I'm gonna be honest here... I don't think this team needs insane changes. They didn't lose because of a lack of skill, they lost because lack of experience and killer instinct. Things they may have acquired from this series. They saw what it takes to win. - Feeling Glucky?
id be happy adding clarkson and Dman to help dion with ice time and what not. |

Seriously, can you name the top centers in the league that we are looking for. - bixll
Do you mean the ones that we have a prayer of getting? I have a hard time thinking of one.

I agree with this... Although i do think we need some help in the shut down D department. (also not so easy to come by)
and to your point earlier about Santa clause bruce. I have no illusions about this team magically landing one of the premier centers in the league.. just saying it would be nice |

Exactly..
Hard to find a number one center that is not locked up for 8 years. |

he lost a bunch of weight from the issues he was having, which hurt him.
. - big_dion
For which he underwent tests when the Leafs were returning from one of their late season road-trips.
I didn't even hear an actual diagnosis, and you said he went through treatment.

Doug Murray? Brian Campbell? or Tomas Kaberle? - Jimmy_wiener
Douglas is the 2 slowest players in hockey. Kaberle has been done for 3 years now.. Campbell is the only of this list that I would try to sign, JMO. |

Yeah
It is the same reasoning I use for signing Kessel. Even if you have to overpay, it is not like you can actually spend the money elsewhere and get a better player, or even equivalent.

agreed, depending on the cost.
I don't know what they do about Phaneuf though. I don't think he should be a captain and he isn't worth what he is earning now... and will probably want a raise As a UFA someone will snap him up at a ridiculous price. |

Haven't looked at any rankings lately.. but is there a chance mackinnon falls any further than third? |

Kaberle was just a joke, the other two would be great to add to the blueline IMO. Or we could just make a big move for Jumbo and Boyle and be done with it.... |

Will it be hard to replace a Captain that has not a lot of heart and makes a ton of defensive mistakes. For what, 6 or 7 milly.

Priority one if you're going to keep him, get a reliable shutdown right handed dman, because as we all saw he cannot clear the zone on his backhand, weakest attempts I have ever seen.
Personally, I would not resign him. |

Tough call. Two months ago I would have said yes, since the Leafs looked like they were fine without him. The last few games against Boston though he looked like he could be an elite PMD one day and he is still very young.
That is just a really tough call.
What about Couturier? Do we think he is any good? Would you give up Phaneuf for him? What about Phaneuf+ ... the Flyers could really use Phaneuf. |

I think the "Franchise potential" stops at pick 3. Not saying Gardiner is a franchise player but neither is anyone that we'd pick at 5. Jones,Mackinnon and Drouin will be the first three picks. I'd rather have Gardiner + say a Max Domi than Monohan or Barkov. IMO |
