The Hawks won't play this bad in every game, but they won't sustain great play in every game either.
Detroit will NOT win this in 5 games, but they could easily win it in 6 or 7. This series has 7 games written all over it. Detroit has responded brilliantly in this game after being dismantled in game 1.
This team's weakness (being overly soft, having little net presence) is being exposed today. - kwolf68
I could see Detroit winning in 6. The Hawks inconsistent effort make it very hard for me to have any confidence in this team right now. And turn out the lights, this game just ended early. I simply cannot say how pathetic of an effort this was. Not one single guy on this team deserves any kind of praise today. It was a total no show including our coaches. |

Please. Saad has been pretty bad. Hopefully Smith in for Carcillo as well. |

4-1 and six minutes left in the game and NOW our first line wants to try to show a little life. That is even more insulting to everybody who wasted their afternoon attending this game or watching it at home. Goes to show you this team just didn't feel the need to put out more of an effort when the game was still in doubt. |

Hawks playing like they did in the MN series. Too many mistakes, depth is not bailing out the top lines. Top lines still are not playing up to par. I said it before the series started, if the Hawks play to the same level they did in the MN series, this will happen. |

Agree. That was a good shift skating with fire. Where was that for the first 50 minutes of the game?
Same ole same ole'...the Hawks play "toggle switch hockey", seemingly believing they can just turn it on when they need to and not bring the requisite passion.
I guess Detroit's excuse of being tired in game 1 has a hell of a lot of merit now. |

Poor effort by the entire team, worst game of the playoffs. They need to use this embarrassment and get ready for Game 3. It's just one game and we're not going to win them all. |

This fail started with the coaching staff.
Beautiful face-off fail by none other than Bolland leading to an odd-man break. And of course the very nicely executed pick/interference in front on Leddy preventing him from getting to the puck carrier, who had an easy, open lane to score.
Actually, when I see this crap, I end up rooting for a total fail, for the Hawks to go out in 5 games (lose the next 3) and for them to fire Q, Kitchen and Kompon. |

Stalberg back Tuesday? Saad out? - StLBravesFan
How bout going with the roster that was winning all year?
Not a shot at you. Saad stays, Stalberg back, and Carcillo down.
Only Q tries to out smart himself by shuffling deck without any failure. Failure is not measured by fans not satisfied with style points, but rather with simply losing.
Maybe Q gives them another day off.

Yes. And for everyone that thinks Q is so great, I have one thing to note: Powerplay.
Yes, mr genius Q sure knows it all.
And #2 standing watching again on the PK.
If you ask me, C2 the only Hawk that showed up today. No help whatsoever from the guys in front of him. Easy game for Howard.
Oh yeah, almost forgot -- for all the Bolland lovers out there, another smart penalty to take with your club already down 3-1. Real difference maker. Sure glad I didn't spend the coin to go see this garbage in person. - savvyone-1
I wish someone, ANYONE would ask Q what he thinks that Keith brings to a power play. Did anyone watch NHL 36 where the three stooges were reviewing the Nashville game and Q seemed legitimately shocked that they scored a power play goal and even asked Kompon how long it's been since they scored a power play goal. When he answered 9 games, Q said "Wow, that's a long time." |

One of the worst performances all year. Way to save it for the playoffs boys.

Kane (except for one play), Sharp (same play) and Hossa haven't shown up either. - StLBravesFan
Agreed. Once again we are forced to ask where are top players are at. The popular mantra is this team will come out on fire on Monday in Detroit, but honestly, I have seen so many of these performances where this team looks completely disinterested that it wouldn't surprise me if Detroit takes it to them on Monday. I just don't know where this team's head is at right now. |

Not sure we need to crawl out on the ledge yet: it's 1 - 1, Hawks have won at the Joe a lot, they're still a very good, deep team. Win one at theJoe, and home-ice advantage is back.
Remember 2009 and 2010: lost one game out of the first two at home in the first two series each year, came back to win all four b |

Don't disagree.
But I'm guessing it will be Saad out - another mind game by Big Chief Triangle - I mean Coach Q. |

For me? Stalberg in. Ben Smith in. Carcillo out. Bolland out. Handzus down to 4th line. Saad has to come off that first line. Maybe move Stalberg up there. |

if the Hawks have a 5 on 3 in the last 2 minutes, they probably would't close it out with a W like the Kings did... - prd797

On the plus side the Blackhawks don't usually play this bad in consecutive games. Just as Detroit made a statement today Chicago will make one on Monday. |
