I agree problem is we all know this franchise is not patient and wouldnt be at all surprised to see that pick traded.
- flyerfan28

Maybe not in this draft. This draft is highly regarded as a very deep draft pick, so I think the Flyers would be much more willing to hold onto that pick.

Anyone know when trades can start happening? Seems like everything usually starts on draft day or shortly before.

no, if salary is a concern like steveshdy mentioned, read and laughton might be the asking price. top 4 dmen can bring in quite a haul and edler is really top pair worthy. i'd keep him if i were VAN mgmt.

I like edler's skillset but what the hell happened to him in the playoffs this year, turtled on every scrum is what's been reported, then his brutal cheap knee on Staal. I dont know.

Edler has a skillset that the flyers need, but if hes not laying it on the line for his teammates, if that is his M.O. I dont want him.

might have had an injury or be another joni...decidedly unphysical unless it's a crosscheck into the boards.

As long as he gets the job done and does what it takes to win, I trade for Edler if the price is reasonable.

Getting Edler for say Read and Cousins/Laughton and with the emergence of Gustafsson and this d corp all of a sudden looks pretty darn good.

I just hope Read doesn't turn into another Patrick Sharp and Edler into another Pitkanen although he would still be serviceable to us.

I should think we would want to keep Laughton for now. Where it seems off down the line to be playing B Schenn or Coots on the 3rd line, Laughton seems to have a potential that wouldn't leave him out of place there. He'd be a solid 3rd liner, where Coots or B Schenn would be major overkill. Rather just give Hartnell.

Laughton is more useful to the organization than Cousins, sure, but he is far from a deal breaker in a trade for Edler. If we need a 3rd line C down the road, we can easily get one off the UFA market at that time. Can't do that with a top pairing dman.

Edit: IMO, Hartnell is not an option for VAN as they are trying to gain cap space...

I like Matt Read. He's inexpensive (for one more year) and can play multiple positions along with special teams. However, if you can get Edler you pull the trigger.

Read, pick (not a first), prospect would be the beginning offer.

I have to agree with this. Seems like something they may want, and Edler and Read are only a year apart in age.

Gustafsson one period away from playing entire tourney without being out for a single opposing even-strength goal. Considering all the ice time he's logged, that would be a tremendous accomplishment.

wish i could watch the game

meanwhile the nhl network is probably showing an old special about the rangers again

- Don'tForgetTocchet

They've done the same for the Memorial Cup games. Despite it being the 1st time in I think that tourney history that the top 3 ranked NA skaters are playing in it at the same time.
