If Edler is truly going to be available. The Flyers have to make every effort within reason to make it happen. He's exactly what they need. - MJL

Hard to say because there is Cap issues for both teams. And I don't know if Vancouver is willing to take Cap space back. I'd trade Brayden Schenn if I had to. And I'd be willing to reluctantly give up Simmonds or Hartnell.

The most, or what's reasonable? Matt Read seems to fit their bill pretty well. I think Simmonds needs to stay here, at least for next season. I would go Matt Read +Laughton/Cousins + early round picks (not 1st). Many Vancouver fans would think that offer is an over payment I understand he's fallen out of favor with many fans there. |

If we send them picks you know we can recoup them if we send out coburn in a seperate deal
My deal would be b schenn and a pick. |

Holmgren has to get creative and find a way to get Edler. I wouldn't move any of the younger pieces. Read, Hartnell, pick(s), and prospects would be what I'm willing to move. I don't mean all of those either but some type of combination. |

If they got Edler, I wouldn't trade Coburn. I'd look to trade Meszaros instead.

You can look. I dont know what you'll find. Conditional 2nd round pick? Coburn would bring back a late 1st in this year's, maybe one of columbus picks? |

Doesn't matter what Coburn would bring back in my opinion. If Edler is added, Coburn is more important to keep then Meszaros in my opinion. I'd keep Coburn and trade Meszaros for whatever I could get for him, just to get the Cap space.

depends how much we want to re-shape the roster. keeping coby is still likely the best value. |

Mez may be a difficult move with his high cap hit and higher salary and his bad back, achilles, and shoulder. |

Might be, but with only one year left on his deal. Not a big risk for a team who needs a defenseman.

I would expect Vancouver to want to get younger. Hartnell doesn't make sense for them. I would guess they'd target b schenn or Simmonds to center the deal around |

You'd do b schenn as well? What would your plan be for 2nd line center? |

And bigger and stronger was another need I heard, as well as clearing cap space. Read does make sense, and Hartnell makes sense. Simmonds makes sense, too, but we shouldn't get rid of him. He's a rare kind of player. I can't see them saying no to Matt Read, anyway.
EDIT: We also can't get rid of B Schenn for a mid-aged player. Only for another young player. |

With regards to b schenn i understand you want to stay young. I would be fine with dealing him for edler if it seta in motion another trade to get younger. Like coburn bringing back a late first in this years draft |

I'm not sure any player we could get late 1st round would suffice for B Schenn. If it could then I don't know why Van wouldn't just trade Edler to Columbus or Calgary for multiple 1st rounders this year. I see your point about that, but at the same time, if Read + can get the job done, and we can keep the youth, then why trade it? |

Actually, the big need for Vancouver is a physical winger. Simmonds would be a perfect fit for them and give them some cap savings in a deal that sends Edler out. |
