Gauthier is an interest one. High praise for his defensive game but his offensive production was alright. However, he was a rookie in the Q. If he is on the board for the Leafs, I think they take him

a lot of his goals are scored in the slot or in front of the net. something the leafs need more of. kessel is a perimeter guy, lupul when he really wants it will go to those areas, and jvr is becoming that net presence. erne would be a nice addition. don't know if hes top 6 material, i'm not a scout, frenchie might be able to give more insight on his potential

i think at that size he's worth a gamble for sure. is he a #1? probably not. but at that size, he would open up room for other players who are playing on the first line for sure.

Thought people might learn their lesson on the slew of gentle giants in that mid-first range like Colborne and Nick Bjugstad (Still has a chance though). Most big forwards around this area have major grit as part of their game.

colborne didn't look out of place with the leafs in the playoffs so you never know with him either. plus hes been working with barb underhill on his skating which is a good sign. if he continues to make strides like that, gauthier wouldn't be needed

He's also 23 and was a long shot based on the hope of his size like Gauthier is. Not saying they are bad players or picks, but that guys at 6'4-6'5 without grit even if it is inconsistent grit are rarely taken so early
