I cannot believe that no one has pointed out that Franzen put himself offside on Datsyuks goal. Should have been blown dead. What an acting job by Franzen. Amazing recovery. Shaw gets bs calls all night long. Never touched the goalie until after the puck was in the net. All Oduya had to do was smack the puck toward the boards instead of bringing it back into the crease. Hey Bickell if you were going to take a penalty why didnt you just punch him in the face any one of the times you had a chance?

MAJOR test of this coaching staff and this team's heart in Game 4. MUST WIN.
- John Jaeckel

Agreed.

Brutal call on the second goal, at 2-2 the momentum would have been in the Hawks' hands, the Red Wings hands' would have been gripping the stick a little firmer, the crowd would have been subdued. Brutal blown call.

That said great teams persevere and overcome adversity. Its gut-check time, good luck.

Orval Tessier Sighting!
- John Jaeckel

That is funny, I thought earlier you may have inferred that, this morning, with a wizard of Oz reference.

First goal, really, so when Saad, who made same move earlier, and 90 percent of shooters get that cross over move by the dman they shoot immediately. CC had to come out, because if you look at replay, GN was clean between the dots. Credit GN.

Datsyuk made the same shot vs Anaheim. It really is an amazing shot. Should we stop it, of course...but this idea the Lundquist, who has been a siv the last 2 stops all is a bit of a reach.

During the season, you rotated goalies, do it here now..that is fine. I have no beef with that. Might wake the boys up front up.

- TrueGrit

C'mon True Grit...you can make the argument Nquist held on to the puck because the book on crawford is he goes down early.....the last goal was a dagger....we had momentum....he has to stop it.

Exactly, that means stopping saveable shots. And there is no law that says a puck possession team can't have a great goalie.
- John Jaeckel

LA is the best at both those things, not surprising they're probably the best team in the league

And it didn't work out so well for Orval when he said that.......

The 'awesome'regular season lulled the Hawks into a false sense of security in so many ways, CC being one.

Come on, did anyone think Corey was actually no longer "mr softy" and that the hawks had any grit?

Seabrook and Rozsival got abused. Crawford is mentally weak. He was shaky and out of position at bad times.
- John Jaeckel

Sigh ... yep, hang Crawford. Emery is very mentally tough and resilient, but he takes bad angles, is weak glove side and can't soak up a puck to save his life. His come back is a great story, but do you HONESTLY think he could escape a 35-40 shot barrage with less than 3 goals???

And my apologies to Ray for bringing him into this (certainly he is not at fault for this), but the unfair CC bashing implies that Emery would do better. I submit that he would not.

We're Chicago sports fans, man. Winning isn't something that happens around here often. We're well trained to expect the bottom to fall out. Ever heard of the Cubs?

Could we get to the end of this series without trading the team or blowing the whole thing up?

There's a reason there are seven games in a series. Off those ledges, gents.

What have you seen in the last 2 games that leads you to believe they are capable of winning another game?

Okay....to go after Bowman now is ridiculous....A lot of teams have 2c on their list of wants....
- UnnamedSource

how many of those teams w/o a 2c are in still the playoffs?

The only thing that gives me hope is that the chances are there for the Hawks. They didn't bury a lot of rebounds and chances they had, hit maybe 3 or 4 posts.

They need to learn how to finish here, starting with the Captain.

- patorioto

This, he's been playing really well, but he NEEDS to score

I can't tell if this is sarcasm or not....

- CBHawks88

If Crawford cut off that angle better (which, by the way, along with not committing too early, RAY EMERY has done well all year), Datsyuk might not have that spot. Crawford was not good tonight.

Defensemen get beat. Ekman Larsson, Lidstrom, all of them. Your goalie needs to bail you out on those especially in these situations. Crawford is too weak at bad times. Do you REALLY think Ottawa is as good as the Hawks forward and defense. Look what Craig Anderson does. He battles and he makes gigantic saves at key times. And I know this personally, Craig Anderson believes he is the best goalie in the league—whether he is or not—that matters. He is ALL compete.

Crawford was one of a few guys who were not good tonight, along with Rozsival and Seabrook and Bolland.

I'm not a ref but wasn't Franzen offsides on the Datsyuk goal? His whole body was in the zone before the puck

No sarcasm.....Crawford should lose the net after tonight. Not panicking because Emery is solid and the team does play better in front of him. You don't want the team to be doubting their goal tender when the puck drops on Thursday.....
- UnnamedSource

If I'm Crawford I'm doubting the guys in front of me... You know... the guys who can't seem to win a face-off, get back on defense or even score a goal or two...

Oh well. What do we have to lose, I guess. Bring in Razor and maybe Toews & Co. will get their mojo back.

The shotttty thing is that the Hawks are not good enough to win with bad - average goaltending....
- mrpaulish

Probably not without a PP. There's little risk in the Wings (and a lot of reward) using their obstruction tactics.

Wings are doing a better job exposing the Hawks' weaknesses than the Hawks are at taking advantage of the Wings.

Some people, surprisingly, thought CC would backstop a team who played like the Globetrotters on ice, all the way to a Champoinship.
