Agreed, time to put in Emery.
Jekyll and Hyde this team....do not understand that a team with so much talent are so flat sometimes....is it chemistry, bad coaching, lack of heart ? Hard to put your finger on the problem but they better wake up soon.
Here's hoping they get that spark back..... - Hawkster
They weren't flat tonight, they missed the opportunities Detroit scored on, hit posts while Detroit put their's home. That was an even game at worst |

Says a lot when Shaw was arguably our most effective forward tonight. |

Shaw was a WARRIOR tonight. He got hosed on the penalty and the non-goal.

If Crawford cut off that angle better (which, by the way, along with not committing too early, RAY EMERY has done well all year), Datsyuk might not have that spot. Crawford was not good tonight.
Defensemen get beat. Ekman Larsson, Lidstrom, all of them. Your goalie needs to bail you out on those especially in these situations. Crawford is too weak at bad times. Do you REALLY think Ottawa is as good as the Hawks forward and defense. Look what Craig Anderson does. He battles and he makes gigantic saves at key times. And I know this personally, Craig Anderson believes he is the best goalie in the league—whether he is or not—that matters. He is ALL compete.
Crawford was one of a few guys who were not good tonight, along with Rozsival and Seabrook and Bolland. - John Jaeckel
Timing is everything. When your goalie makes a huge save at a very key point in the game, the momentum frequently shifts to his team. If CC fights off Datsyuk's shot and keeps it out of the net, I have no doubt the Hawks tie the game.
Howard - he stops Sharp, Stalberg and Saad point blank at various times in the game.

You guys, including JJ, have to slowly back away from the ledge for a bit longer.
Aside from the ill time turnovers, the Hawks controlled a majority of this game. The Wings just managed to capitalize.
I don't ever call out officiating as an excuse for a loss but tonight that excuse is warranted. That wave off was a back breaker of epic proportions. Although, I thought the one Hawks goal was a gift from the refs so maybe the wave off was a balancing act.
Either way, the series is only 2-1. When it becomes 4-1 then we can all start tying our nooses. - teh_HAWKZ
Back away from the ledge? Hey, it's just 2-1. That said, the Hawks pretty much MUST win game 4. Got a feeling they're gonna get some more calls in Game 4, but they need more than that and Crawford HAS to be better at key times.

1) Is their anemic power play - that has been this entire season - going to magically wake up if they get these calls?
2) Crawford hasn't been better than below average at key times for the better part of two seasons - I see no reason to believe it is going to happen all of a sudden. |

It's not a matter of whispers....it's a matter of confidence....Cleary from Detroit said it himself....the turning point was the 3rd goal....and it was a bad goal. I like Crawford but I think it's time to put Emery in. Better to do it early than to late.... - UnnamedSource
I get you and agree with the outcome, but if you believe that any of the skaters is not buried in self analysis and feels horrible about their lack of ability to score, then you are mistaken. The bigger confidence issue is with the forwards and core and their ability to find a way to score. 1 goal does not cut it.
And while many hate CC and feel they have him read, this idea that is projected from a message board that he is not a tough competitor and is thought of as weak by his teammates is nuts. Do you really think the organization roles the dice with a nut job? Like Cutler, people don't like the way CC carries himself, and then project that he has not self confidence when he gives up a goal.
And like all goalies, he gives up some he would like back. But on balance and over all the guy gives up 2 a game consistently. Gives his team a chance. There is a difference of a softy here and there and meltdowns like you get with Luongo or Fluery who give up 6 or 7 on all shots.

And how many of his penalties hurt the Hawks? I'll help you ... ZERO! He is coming to play more than you can say about allot of his teammates. |

Tazer was better tonight IMO. Like our 1st and 3rd period, but the 2nd period lapse was the Achilles. |

Penalties don't equal fire, you don't think its passionate to go to the front of the net and get your ass kicked in order to try and help the team. Or dominate zone time, or not let any goals against? If he doesn't hit the post does he play with more fire? Joke |

Agreed. Game 4 is all about heart, and the resourcefulness of this coaching staff.
Jobs should be on the line Wednesday night. Throughout the organization. Coaches, players and "GM." |

No but physical play does. And Shaw has been going to the net even harder than Toews. |

They had a goalie, and some heart/will to win. - Ogilthorpe2
Agree with the goalie part. Thomas was one of the easiest picks for mvp in a long time. Quick was a close 2nd. You are 100% correct on this teams heart and will to win. Why can't they play like they did in the final minutes tonight or all those games against phoenix last year all game? |

That's been a big issue. Took them too long in the Phoenix series to realize they need to dump and chase.
I thought they were much better tonight but even with forty shots on Howie they still passed up too many opportunities to shoot and didn't start getting bodies in front of him until late in the game when the Wings were collapsing.
Earlier a lot of the shots were from the perimeter and they need to make things tougher on Howard. |
