i disagree ogi... I don't question their heart or effort. I believe it solely rests on the inability to adjust....whether it's the pp or when they play teams that do what detroit is doing.....
I mean how many times can they roll out the same pp game after game and not think of pulling Keith off the #1 unit and replacing him with Leddy....it's just one example. I thought they played great tonight...held the puck in the zone but had nothing to show for it....the turnovers obviously were costly and CC needs to be better. |

The worst call was the Franzen offsides, no question about it, no subjectivity, just missed a blatant violation, no excuse - rollpards19
actually, someone just pointed out, in the rulebook, it's a legit call - apparently if it's the puck carrier and is in control, the offside is good. |

Niemi had a good playoff in 2010; he had plenty of bad moments but had grt bounceback gmes. Other than the Shark series, his stats during that run were nothing special. hawks were down 2-1 to the preds in the first round, and got blown off the ice in gme 1 vs nucks in round 2 (5-1); he was nothing special in the finals v the flyers; his playoff was 2.6 GA and a .910 SV%...he was not an elite goalie during that series....the team in front of him was loaded and yes they could have won the cup with out him; but why even bother speculating about it - bogiedoc

wow...and it was less than a week ago...this blog was dripping red and salivating to get the wings.....fascinating
well hawkdom this gme was of the kick in the gut variety but with what they accomplished this year this team has all the ability, will and talent to come back from this 2-1 hole; besides this is the nhl playoffs; anything can and does happen
Howard was 4-17 coming into these playoffs vs the hwks, hawks had not lost in detroit in reg in over 2 years; tough time for reversion to the means to occur
1. a medioicre leaf team almost came back vs the bruins to take the series; a cataclysmic last 1:22 blew that out of the water.
2. wings were 2-1 vs ducks and took it took 7 to win
3. kings down 2-0 and 2-1 beat the blues in 6
4. oh and the cup year down 2-1 vs the preds in the first round but came back to win in 6, and who can forget that gme 5
and hawks have not lost 3 in a row all year...yikes!!! - bogiedoc
The Wings were never up on the Ducks 2-1.
The rest of your "Did we quit when the German's bomb Pearl Harbor" speech is correct I believe...

Interesting,
the NHL rulebook says that the goal was called back because Shaw took away Howard's ability to come out and face the shot by standing the crease -- if he were to make an attempt to remove himself from the crease (despite contact or not) that goal most likely would have counted.
as per the boys on TSN Tonight, but they did have the rulebook in hand. - BooBoo997
well i am impressed; would love to see that rule enforced every time and wipe out 20% of the goals in this league |

I still think they are 2 gritty and skilled forwards away from being a very scary and dominant team. 1 hopefully a 2nd line center. Plus we need a good young goalie in the system. Has anyone heard more on signing that Antti Raanta guy? He was great at the worlds |

Do you know how many goals Holmstrom really should of had? ... alot more than he did is the answer because of that rule I would assume. |

No sir...
G1: Wings win 5-4
G2: Dunks win 4-0
G3: Wings won 3-2
I believe that equates to the Wings leading the series 2-1! |

Again..not panicking. I thought we would beat the Wings in five and I was wrong. The Wings are a team on a roll and playing well. We are getting out coached by Babcock. I still believe the Hawks win this series. Knowing how the NHL works....the officials will give the Hawks every chance to win on Thursday because they blew the call on Shaw's no goal. I still think you make the switch to Emery and I put Leddy on the #1 pp unit.
I also make Sharp play center with 88 and 16.

Toews needs to start earning his pay and justifying that "C" on his chest.
Crawford needs to get his head out of his ass.
Sharp needs to learn what defense means
Keith needs to blow out his knee and retire
Shaw needs to stay out of the box
Seabrook needs to get off the booze
Q needs to do something...anything different than what he's been doing. |

At least 6-10 in the playoffs in his 15-17 years IMO.

quirky fact of this series - Quenneville has never beat the Wings in the Playoffs, doubt it means anything, found it an odd stat. |

Just glad that guy got put out to pasture. He terrorized us for years. I wish the Hawks would hire him too so he can teach our guys how to stand in front of a net. |

tend to agree, that is why he had SO much focus on trying to keep his skates outside I think, but often lack success at that. |

Gotta agree. No surprise, in the playoffs it's about adjustments--constantly building the better mousetrap--no offense to your cat. Q tried to get ahead in the series and make Babcock adjust to what he wanted to do, but it hasn't worked. He has little choice but to chase Babcock's moves now IMO. Not a good place to be. |
