I think he should've put Stalberg in after game 1.....Q has two days to make adjustments. Let's see if he really is that great coach every one (including myself) believes he is. - UnnamedSource
I believe effort is 99% on the players, but the power play...that's on the coaches (Q). A functioning power play w/ perhaps net presence would go a long way in this series.
While not alone, that nonexistent power play is my biggest beef with this team. |

I'm wondering when he brings Rusty up?
Sorry have to inject some humor so my posts don't start looking like Phil's with all the red faces. - HawkintheD
Lol...I was wondering when you were going to bring him up.....you think we can still get Getzlaf? |

C'mon roll......
How many points is a hit the post? He still is getting enough separation and he has been terrible at the dot. - UnnamedSource
Eh 47% doesn't suck, better than anyone else. I know, it was more the adjust, he NEEDS to EXECUTE, he has to produce, its simply not good enough |

Look, CC is our starter, and not because he or anyone else claimed him to be an "elite" goalie. Anti Niemi is an elite goalie. In the 2010 playoffs, we don't win the cup without him. He was a freaking acrobat, and admittedly, if Crawford were in goal, no cup.
Now fast forward to post season 2010. The Hawks front office has some serious salary cap decisions to make. Are those decisions made in a vacuum? HELL NO! Do you seriously believe that Q wasn't consulted on the need to resign Niemi? Do you seriously believe he didn't assure the FO that Crawford was all that was needed, that they only needed a guy to stop 20 routine shots a game behind his "superior" defense? So, they let Niemi go, and Crawford is "the guy."
Only, he's not the guy. Q screws with his head and pulls him after giving up 3 goals off 25 shots. CC sits there watching Turco take his job away while sucking profusely. It took Turco giving up 5, 6 and once even SEVEN goals before he got pulled for Crawford. What does THAT say to a young goalie about his coach's confidence in him?
His team never seems to back him up. Mr. Norris trophy takes his 6 mil and then decides to start sucking. Emery's in, he gets 20 easy shots a game against poor teams. Crawford gets the tough games, and gets no offensive support and weaker defensive support than Emery seems to get.
To put it in a nutshell, they give him the starting job because they didn't want to pay an elite goalie, then they throw him under the bus.
Everyone attacking the poor guy for not being something NOBODY ever claimed he was should be screaming for heads to roll behind the bench and in the front office. Not for the poor guy doing the best he can.
My $.02. - Q...argh
Yes, I do believe Q was not consulted, front office hubris.
Q screws with ALL Non core players cause......I don't know, they're not core?
I agree, they don't want to pay for an elite goalie, but it doesn't stop CC from being pointed out for constantly giving up savable (soft) goals.
The hawks don't need elite, they need better than average....CC hasn't filled that bill

Funny you should bring this up about front office moves if the Hawks don't advance...has a Jack Adams nominee ever been fired? I was just thinking about this today. - UnnamedSource
I think the "Hype" of the Hawks got everyone riled up a bit. And I am not implying that I don't think the Hawks shown to be the best in the regular season, I absolutely do.
But ya' gotta play the games, and when I see things like never lost 2games in a row all year -- I think, cmon, it's bound to happen. // If Hawks or Hawks fans though they would win every series in 4 or 5 games, you gotta be a bit more realistic than that.
I still think the Hawks are a great team and this series is far from over for the records, Wings will have to keep the pedal down in order to win... and that is a lot, but can be done. |

Yes it has been a concern but I still think they can win without it. If the Hawks lose this series I can see Kompon getting the axe....the only question is will Q accept it? |

Do you know how many goals Holmstrom really should of had? ... alot more than he did is the answer because of that rule I would assume. - BooBoo997
I was about to say...there were games when Homer was even outside the crease and they called goals back-in the playoffs no less. Shaw was in the crease completely. One of those wonky ones where they call it and then a second later its okay. Ask anyone from Buffalo about Hull's stanley cup winning goal.... |

I know, could you do it? It would seem crazy but they'd be in a pickle if they went out in this round.
Gotta do something and it's obvious some of their problems stem from coaching for sure. |

Well it easy to overhype the team when the Hawks had the season they had. However there were several voices of reason on this board. Myself I overlooked the Wings.....even if they end of beating Detroit I still think the Kings will be even tougher to beat. |

correct me if I am wrong, Bob Probert, Joey Kocur, shawn Burr, Stu Grimson, Dallas Drake were not Scotty Bowmans picks or acquires? they were forced on him?
the reason why I ask is it is evident he is either calling the shots here or telling his kid what to do.he seems to not want those type of players necessary to get down right ignorant ! we have zero for grit & dirtyness on this team. when, & don't take this wrong wing fans, you have to worry about minni or detroit getting too physical, what does that say about us then. our achilles heel for the last couple of years when we fell short will be the bowcrap PR spin that these guys will feed us!
watching the hawks cry about the officiating again, when they should be saying, Detroit rubbed dog crap in our faces and we didn't respond.
let's see if Q digs in the bag & hurts some feelings& dresses morin AND smith and sits a couple of others!!!
if you guys win the series , good luck, you earned it! Now we will see if rocky is a true passionate owner & holds a hot fire to stan bowmans ass this summer! |

I thought Shaw's goal should have counted until I watched NHL tonight on TSN - they pointed out that being in the crease has two issues - most likely contact with the goalie, but if there is none - then the issue becomes are you allowing the goalie "room" to make the save (even without contact?) now using that logic, I can see where Howard did not have the room he should have to make the save -- now would he have made the save... too debatable. But the rules do state it:

It will be a mess that's for sure.....but some blame has to be on "whoever" our GM is for not making the right moves year after year. It will be interesting to see where the chips fall if the hawks make an exit after this round. |

absolutely agree.
I think even Wings fans for much of the year overlooked the Wings -- they are a snotty, proud bunch with 0 expectations and lots of playoff experience and some 2nd scoring from younger players - dangerous combination for high expecting teams, which really are all that's left besides us. |

I'd like to have seen it reviewed. Had the NHL done so, I think it would have counted due to the latitude in rules. It certainly wasn't as clear-cut as the ref quickly indicated. |

And the Wings player who shoved Shaw back into Howard when Shaw was trying to drift back out of the crease? It was a weak call, but it doesn't matter because the Hawks suck. |

The Kings just look like they are beasts right now....like they did last year. The long off season definitely helps them. |
