correct me if I am wrong, Bob Probert, Joey Kocur, shawn Burr, Stu Grimson, Dallas Drake were not Scotty Bowmans picks or acquires? they were forced on him?
the reason why I ask is it is evident he is either calling the shots here or telling his kid what to do.he seems to not want those type of players necessary to get down right ignorant ! we have zero for grit & dirtyness on this team. when, & don't take this wrong wing fans, you have to worry about minni or detroit getting too physical, what does that say about us then. our achilles heel for the last couple of years when we fell short will be the bowcrap PR spin that these guys will feed us!
watching the hawks cry about the officiating again, when they should be saying, Detroit rubbed dog crap in our faces and we didn't respond.
let's see if Q digs in the bag & hurts some feelings& dresses morin AND smith and sits a couple of others!!!
if you guys win the series , good luck, you earned it! Now we will see if rocky is a true passionate owner & holds a hot fire to stan bowmans ass this summer! - wonthecup10
well Probert, Kocur were early 80s picks, the same year as Yzerman... 83 to be exact. Bowman was not a part of the Wings until bout 93. -- so no, he had no hand in those guys. Come to think of it, Drake was in like 89s. Grimson was brought in later on as a depth player, most likely for protection -- but that failed. Kocur was brought back, to add some grit during 97'... which panned out.
I think that the Wings, coming out of the first lockout knew that you could get more value from a speedy, hitter on the 4th line than a fighter who was slow since the game was expected to be faster. - also we had a guy name Lidstrom, who could pass out of trouble to forwards on the fly creating more speed than the league envisioned by way of rules.
fast forward to now, we dont have that luxury for 30mins a night, so now it's puck out of the zone and our young dmen are learning when to "off the glass" of "pass for speed"... hence so many turnovers.
I think the issue with the Hawks is they are simply having trouble dealing with the adversity, after not having much all season -- they are Champs and most likely will find a way around it, DET are also past champs so they will try to counter.
I figure this will be a 7gamer with the Hawks on top, simply because of their skill level, but man the Wings are battling'.

It will be a mess that's for sure.....but some blame has to be on "whoever" our GM is for not making the right moves year after year. It will be interesting to see where the chips fall if the hawks make an exit after this round. - UnnamedSource
Success (regular season that is) has been there enough to make an argument...But it's the 1-2 pieces specifically for the playoffs that are the problem. Doesn't have to be solved by overpriced deadline deals either.
To me, a case can be made to duct tape the center situation given what's in the pipeline. But there are no viable all-terrain types in the system; that's where the focus should be this offseason, whenever it starts. |

Time for a little yogi....
Pretty simple...season is Thursday. Win, you have home ice for a best 3. Lose, and almost impossible you are beating Detroit 3 straight.
Hawks still aren't good enough. Pp is horrible and Keith has to be pulled off 1st unit ASAP. He's unsure and telegraphic for what he's trying to do. Won't blame Crawford or loss but goal 3 was horrible. Short side down too early, bad. Goal 1 he lost his net
Hawks can talk all they want about adversity but talk is cheap. Core has to be best players on ice and haven't been.

And the Wings player who shoved Shaw back into Howard when Shaw was trying to drift back out of the crease? It was a weak call, but it doesn't matter because the Hawks suck. - Ogilthorpe2
Kindl kinda backed into him, but Kindl was also pushed by a Hawk player. // Now if Kindl was the one blocking Howard to move out, because Shaw stepped outside the crease -- probably a good goal. |

I'd like to have seen it reviewed. Had the NHL done so, I think it would have counted due to the latitude in rules. It certainly wasn't as clear-cut as the ref quickly indicated. - grinder10
The referre made the call without any hesitation, so he was convinced that the call needed to be made.
On the other hand, an almost identical goal could be scored tomorrow night in San Jose or New York and be allowed to stand by the officials.
Welcome to the NHL rules and officiating - inconsistent, ambiguous, different from game to game. |

Especially early thought Saad played pretty well. Would I like him to pot one or two real soon? Yes! But played well so pointing the finger at him seems a bit odd.
First full year and maybe he's not a big hitter right now. Doesn't mean he can't develop a more physical part of his game.

yes sir....absolute brutal phantom call...the ref saw #65...and decided to make it up and make him an example; i don't give a poop about the rule book....that call is never made 99 out of 100...or they better start wiping out 20% of the goals in this league |

i'm not even talking about fighting, basically what you are saying I tend to agree with! this team is all about skill only and otherwise is soft as puppy crap! it's frustrating all season long everytime we play a team that pushes us around, out comes the book of excuses either by the staff, the media or some apologists! I would love to have 2 players like the mule & homer! the only way we are going to get that is by trade . and with scotties kid at the helm it ain't happenin! & don't let 29 fool you either. he's playing for a contract. once "he gets his" he'll revert back to the same old show up & play when I feel like it dog ass that he was before!
I know i am rubbing some the wrong way about that, just my opinion , thats all! |
