Decent period...MUCH BETTER than that crap on Saturday.

Have to clean up our outlet passes and keep getting pucks on Howard. Need more d'men shooting low at friendly sticks looking for deflections. ALL NIGHT LONG.

- philco28

Need fewer shots right on the winged wheel - he's absorbing them pretty well.

Kane seems to have worn out that short-side shot from a low angle - the longer series go on, the more the opposition knows what you like to do. Howard completely took away the post.

Or maybe somebody knows where the keys are for the handcuffs Keith is wearing.

Would be nice to see him make good use of those hands he's so famous for. Anyone else see him cough up the puck instead of taking a hit?

If he keeps cheating on that, Kane will beat him on the far side before long.

PP and PK faceoff wins would be very helpful as well.

Q doesn't care about winning PK faceoffs clearly

Coughing up the puck happens...that's the least of a concern. HIs entry suck..his shot selection sucks....his puck movement suck.....other than that he is not that bad.

If he took the handcuffs off his wrists, he may actually be able to make a smooth pass or shot.

PK still looks strong...1st pp was good...2nd....um not so much. Leddy should be on the first unit.
- UnnamedSource

When he replaced Keith, he got the puck up the ice, in the zone and put it on net. Keith was handling the puck like a hand grenade on the PP, was tentative and kept giving those BS backhand dishes when they were carrying the puck up and it completely F'ed up the momentum.

Shoot at the pads for a rebound, part of scoring rebound goals is shooting so the rebounds will be there. Selfish shot by Kane

Hossa telegraphed short side too, late in the frame...and Crawford telegraphs that he'll be down early 99.9 per cent of the time. He's playing well, but the Wings know 50 will usually be on his knees. Franzen took advantage and made a perfect shot in game 2. Looked a bit like TG...in his prime...not now

Zero problem with shaw penalty....strange call by refs in front of net..both guys should have gone. Shaw took 2 shots to head.
It time for toews to stop being a gentleman...time for him to turn into messier....hack,slash,hit anything within swinging distance. Take a damn penalty and drop z or dats with a cheap shot and see how long they continue to come by him.
overall, good first period.

Games on CBC if you got it. Phil gets credit for pointing that out to me.
- HawkintheD

Watching the CBC up here. The intermission gang were all falling over themselves praising Babcock and the "Red Wing" system, which is basically clogging up the neutral zone. You'd think they've never seen this before. And you wouldn't know listening to them that the Hawks outshot the Wings 15-9 in the period.

Interesting how the next period plays out....if the Hawks keep their pace I see the WIngs getting tired after the 1st ten minutes.

I think that they were more physical last period than they were on Saturday. Of course, that isn't saying much.

Hm? he doesn't have to start Krugs, he's by far the worst PK faceoff man in the league, and its not close. He feels they can still kill after they lose the draw
