Bobrovsky will win the Vezina I think. If Anderson didn't get injured, he would have won it easily. - PLindbergh31
i'll be shocked if he wins simply because the jackets didn't make the post season. |

Well he can keep losing playoff series after playoff series. Cool with me. - PLindbergh31
that's true. i mean, as good as he is, he has very little post-season success to show for it. |

Maybe. I don't think they will penalize him for that. Maybe Niemi wins it. |

Brad Richards played one shift in the third period. Guy was instrumental in Tortorella winning the Cup. He's has zero loyalty, players must despise playing for that guy.

i remember the damage he did against the flyers (along with fedetenko). that was 9 years ago. has little bearing on what's happening right now. he's been terrible. |

He hasn't played well, but he's got a lot more skill than most of the stiffs on the Rags team.
Lundqvist 29-36 in the playoffs. Awful. |

im glad you guys got rid of him when you did. for some reason, the pens never seemed able to figure him out. good to see the jackets finally having someone getting positive attention for something. the fan base deserves it after the rick nash fiasco |

he killed the pens. niitty went undefeated against the thrashers. something like 13 or 14-0. thomas never lost a game in philadelphia. hard to explain streaks like that.
the jackets are turning things around. it's nice to see. i hate perennial doormats. bad for the league. |

he's been a disappointment for the rangers overall. honestly, i'm not surprised. just didn't think he'd pan out well there for some reason.
csp's record isn't for a lack of effort/performance on his part. |

I used to mock them because they usually turned soft as hell come playoff time, but Couture/Pavelski have really added a good element.
Burns ( Yeti man) is looking great too.
Love their goal horn. |

I mentioned this to you before. Salaries escalate over time. You can't buy a loaf a bread now, for what you paid for it in 2011. That's a poor comparison. What was market value in 2011, is not market value now. Hartnell took less then he could get on the open market salary wise, in exchange for the security of a longer deal. - MJL
Actually, your "comparison" was pretty poor too. A loaf of bread (avg.) was actually less in 2011 than it is now. So, yes, you can indeed buy a loaf of bread now for what you paid in 2012 and have a dime left over for some gumballs. Just sayin' ...(you know, facts and all).

Very true.
Out of the Flyers forwards, too many are pretty bad defensively. The organization chooses to ignore that aspect of a players game too often, and its blamed on systems too much. These guys often come in with that question in their game, drafted, FA or trade.
Simmonds, Hartnell, Giroux, Brayden Schenn and Rinaldo all need major improvement. Briere will probably be gone, and Talbot/Coots had down years defensively.
Still, to me, too many guys that are expected to play big minutes, that are poopty in their own end. Some of the younger players can improve there, I hope they do. Wouldnt bet my testicles on it though. Instead they could look at that aspect of a players game before bringing them in or giving them extensions, which frankly imo they choose to ignore. - flyer_nutter
I don't think the org ignores a forward's defensive game...the history seems to show the opposite, that they in fact, highly value two way forwards... draftees like Richards, Courturier, Laughton, McGinn, Cousins, signings like Talbot, Lappy, Read etc.
I think many of these players you talk about are capable of being better defensively, but you also have to consider what they're being asked to do by the coaches and some other factors many of them kind of unique to this year. We know Lavy's system is an offensive attack, push the puck and forecheck, bring the D into the play etc. Well, that compromises things defensively, even for individual players who might otherwise be better defensively if given the chance. Systems can matter in this regard. Put this Flyer team in Tippet's system or maybe T Murray's and let's see how their defensive game shaped up. (I agree with MJL - hence, ipso facto, if we both agree on something, it must be true. ). |

yeah. im not going to say they are a group of patrice bergerons, but i think the inability to get the puck out of the zone due to a lack of a good mobile defender makes the forwards look worse than they are defensively. it also kills their five on five play in transition. - stayinthefnnet
Most of the Flyer defenders can make a decent first pass or even skate it out of the zone when given room, but they aren't dynamic puck carrying types like Letang and a select bunch of others (i.e, Doughty, Karlsson, Pitkanen, Pietrangelo etc.) who routinely key the transition game with their ability to lead the rush up ice by skating it out with authority from the defensive zone.
When this Flyer team adapts, and the forwards come back to properly support the puck, the transition game works...when they don't, well, it sputters. While the Flyers could surely use a higher-end, puck-carrying, offensively competent D-man to complement their lineup, they can be a better team, in many areas, with the guys they have right now (IF healthy) with a committment to more disciplined and consistent team-defense. |

true. greater commitment could help most any team. im just saying that i think that a better puck mover than what the flyers currently have would go a longggg way towards curing ills on both sides of the puck |
