With 6 picks in the first 3 rounds I wouldn't be surprised to see the habs move up in the draft.

Secondly, as part of Bergevin's proposal to Molson he planned a larger Quebecois speaking amount of players. Therefore look for the habs to try to nab Gauthier from this draft although if it was up to me I would be looking to select Kerby Rychel

- willey101

Gauthier would be nice, but the talent pool is so deep in this draft, there's no need to trade up. If Gauthier is not there, Compher will be just as good if not better (I believe he has more offensive upside).

There's plenty of Frenchies to draft in the 2nd round.

Wouldn't they draft 25th as of right now? I thought the Conference finalists get picks 27 to 30, and then it's the division winners. Correct me if I'm wrong, but as Anaheim is already eliminated, that would put Montreal 25th.

I agree, we should be at 25th, and we would drop to 24th should the Blackhawks lose to Detroit as well.

Agreed, i think the Habs will have the chance to pick Carrier with the 34th pick. As for Morin, he could get drafted in 1st round. And i really hope the Habs pick Desrosiers, this kid has a lot of upside and I would take him over Fuccale any day of the week. I honestly never understood the hype around him, he seems like he never take his game to an higher level, and isn't a clutch goalie to me.

As for Gauthier, i only seen him twice this year but i'm just not sold on him. To me he looks like a good 3rd liner. Wish he had a much better scoring touch.

For goalies, I'd try to snatch one with the habs 3rd round pick. I like Tristan Jarry a lot. I would also pick Comrie over Desrosiers. Desrosiers will most probably still be available in the 4th round.

agreed but if he can get into the top 10 it might be worth moving up though since the Big mobile D that are close to NHL ready will likely go in the 6-10 spots (Jones obvious exception here)

I'd rather keep 6 picks and draft solid players with upside than trade 3 or 4 to get one potential superstar.

If the habs wanted a top pick all they had to do was suck like last year.

well if you assume thats what would be required than yeah sure nobody wants the habs to lose 3 or 4 picks just to move up, however a trade can also be considered along with a pick in order to move up, the options arent just trade MORE picks to get a better draft position....

example, trading 2 to move up would still leave you with 4 picks in the first 3 rounds.....which is still great! but meh, its true that the draft is deep its not a must but basically the only thing we could REALLY use right now is someone to compliment what we have in Subban on the stay at home side of things the rest of the picks can be used to select decent (better) sized bottom 6 forwards

imo we have enough picks/assets to pull something off

but we'll see you never really know what MB has in mind

its because i've lost all faith in Andre Markov, its just not worth the risk of keeping him for another year imo, it worries me

i suppose its fine since he'll be off the books after next season but i'd rather get something for him before his body gives out

I also wish he gets traded before the draft but I'm not sure his value is this high.

Maybe Markov + 1st gets the habs in the top ten. Maybe.

Good luck moving up that is what everyone wants to do, maybe you move up a few spots but nothing drastic like 10

Gauthier, Compher, Santini, McCoshen, Hartman.

Also, you could have added the 34th and 37th picks.

Ugh... Poirier could be a 3rd round pick but not a 2nd.

Much better players ahead of him.

- DrRecchi

I've heard much about the Habs having him pretty high on their list. I'm not an insider or anything, the name just keeps coming up so I really wonder if he's not the plan for one of the picks in the 30's... Will he get that far in though?

Yeah...he's healthy as a horse. It really showed down the stretch and into the playoffs.

Just an FYI...the season is a little longer next year.

I know it still does not make up for half a NHL season, but he still played 21 games in the KHL before the end of the lockout.
