I don't think it will take that much unless you're moving to the top 20.
The one thing I like about this years draft and it's gone pretty much unsaid, is the amount of time, with the lockout, Holmgren had to spend looking at draft eligible kids. When that was his main job, tracking prospects, he was pretty damn good at it. - mayorofangrytown
Agreed, this could be key as this draft will be pivotal to the team's future. |

The Rangers PP has been a disaster this season. That has been their undoing.

It's been terrible this spring, but they got to the ECF running on 17%, so...

Id say top 5 could be perennial all-stars, 5-15 will all be top end players, 15-35 could all be impactful NHLers... obviously some will disappoint and some will surprise, but its a heck of a class..
At #11 the Flyers will no doubt get one hell of a player, whether its a forward OR a defenseman. - jak521
So assuming Jones, MacKinnon, Drounin, Barkov are four of the top 5 who goes 5th and is your perennial all star?
Valeri Nichushkin - Darnell Nurse - Elias Lindholm

Nah, just pointing out that their PP has been a constant for the most part... they just aren't as hard to play against anymore. That 2011-12 team was a real grinder to go up against. |

Lindholm then Monahan then Nichushkin to EDM
Read that Calgary wants Monahan if they can't get Barkov. |

I wonder if Nichushkin saying he wants to come over to NA helps him much in the draft rank. |

I'd be more worried about his eye injury if I was the Rangers, rather than the chance of him leaving in two years. He played one game against Washington and hasn't played since. - Feanor
I really doubt he plays again, or that if he does he's more than a shell. The way he talks about his peripheral vision isn't encouraging, even if he gets over the PCS. |

They aren't getting Barkov. I haven't seen a single draft analysis or mock draft from anyone reputable where he falls out of the top five. That would be a huge surprise. They'll have a great shot at Monahan. He could be a foundation player for them.
I also don't think Nichushkin is dropping but you never know. Look at Alexei Cherepanov, I never thought he'd drop out of the top ten but he dropped into the 20s because of the signability factor. |

Some are saying that Nichushkin could go in the top-4. Even 3rd to Tampa (which I know, sounds crazy). |

It's hard to say but I'd certainly think it would allay the fears of some clubs at the front of the draft that they may be wasting a pick. I know I'd be hesitant with so much riding on it. Although not a need a team like Edmonton is set up to take a bigger risk. I wouldn't be surprised to see them trade down. |

Actually Dynamo Moscow is allowing him to leave to follow his dream. He'll be playing in North America next season.
EDIT: It's on condition that if he decides NA isn't all he's building it up to be and he doesn't like it, that he'll come back to them first in the KHL

So basically since 1995 the biggest contributor for the Flyers who was selected in the second round was Nodl? Holy poop, that is pathetic.
I especially love how Kulemin and Lucic were drafted after Nodl in 2006. - PLindbergh31

Can someone please explain this to me like I'm a four year old?
Why is it that the regular season had to be crammed into this tiny little window where teams could only have a day off every blue moon, sacrificing quality of play but during the PLAYOFFS everybody and their idiot brother gets two days off between games?

I haven't seen him higher than 4 to be honest but I have seen him as low as 8. The one thing I think could push him out of the top 10 is if there are a run on Defensemen. I've seen a couple mock drafts that have 4 to 5 D going top 10. To me that sounds as insane as Nichushkin going 3rd but I guess it could happen. |

It's ridiculous. Just like 5 straight days of one game per has transmorgified into 3 games tonight. WTF!!!
I will point out though that the 48 games for this season were played in just 4 less days than the last 48 games of 2012. It was more about the way the schedule was arranged. |

This is true. The Flyers (YES, I'M WHINING) got screwed by having that condensed training camp immediately followed up by 3 games in 4 nights, and then later on... they got 5 days off in a row. Classic scheduling.

Well that interview quoted Tampa in saying that if Nichushkin promises to play in NA instead of the KHL then they were going to take him, if that helps his odds at all. |
