He also allowed at least one brutal goal tonight. Not saying he can't turn it around, just that his track record hasn't been good at all. - Jsaquella
What's Boston's overall record since the last lockout in said clinching games cause if memory serves me well they had a hard time closing out in their cup run with Thomas too. Seem to recall every series needing to go 7. They're just not a team that flat out steam rolls people in 4 games unless of course they play the flyers |

There's a big difference between mostly dead and all dead. Mostly dead is slightly alive. With all dead, well, with all dead there's usually only one thing you can do.

In games where they could have eliminated the other team in 2011, the Bruins were 4-2.
They were down in the SCF, 3-2 before winning games 6 & 7. In the other rounds, they obviously swept the Flyers, but lost two game sixe with a chance to eliminate their opponents.
Rask, in his career when his team can eliminate the opposing team, is 2-8 in his NHL career. |

This is also Rask's second year as a playoff starter iirc too, I just think its early to say he can't do it. Some bad luck for him in 2010 and growing pains mixed in with what I think is a team that hasn't been consistently good creates a recipe for disaster in these clinching games. My main point of all this originally is regardless who your goalie is the team has to play. |

I never said he couldn't do it, I'm saying that to this point, he's been unable to really shut an opposing team down when they were facing elimination.
The team does have to play, for sure. But to exonerate Rask is incorrect. Thus far he's not proven he can be a "money" goalie. |

I've gone from respecting Detroit for their franchise history, howe's dad playing for them etc etc, hating them for getting swept by the devils in the finals only to comeback with a vengeance and sweep the flyers two years later. Sorry but ill never like Darren McCarty or whatever his name was anyway that franchise does warrant some respect from casual hockey fans for the contending/championship caliber teams they consistently put together. Prolly our best hope of stopping another penguins parade too. |

I believe it was Bernie Parent who said "if you can do it in the regular season you can do it in the playoffs." Rask is a young talented goalie, I think he will turn it around in these clinch games. Most people here have cried a river over bobrovsky's departure and he's yet to win a playoff series. |

I respect the winged wheel.
Love how they shove it up the ass of those teams that had to tank for years to become good. Show that you can be good continously. |

In his 10 games when his opponent is facing elimination, Rask has allowed 34 goals, and his save % is around .870.
If Bernie did say that, he's been proven wrong by any number of goalies. Roman Turek. Jim Carrey. Every Caps goalie not named Olaf Kolzig.
Again, not saying he can't turn it around, just that he hasn't been able to get it done so far. |

With that I'm off to bed.
And to Jsaq, you might be right but I'm a glass half full kind of guy. Bernie hasn't been proven wrong because there's been guys whom the pundits said couldn't get it done in the big games and yet finally did it. The flyers own cup runs and Bernie's own career are living proof. |

Again, not saying he can't turn it around. Just saying to this point, he's pretty much sucked when they've had a chance to close out a series.
Parent put up decent playoff numbers before the Flyers Cup wins, while playing for relatively bad teams. Rask's played behind a very good team, that generally plays solid defense. |

i agree. can't see the rags winning 4 straight. bruins are the better team. henrik is the only reason this series isn't over yet. that and rask falling down for no reason and giving up a goal to allow the comeback. - hammarby31
I don't think anybody sees that happening. I'd be surprised if it went past game 5.
And how about the Blackhawks? There's the post-season upset we've all been expecting in the making. |

The only thing I can't stand about Detroit is throwing (frank)ing octopus on the (frank)ing ice. Eat em or leave em in the ocean, don't use them as props in a (frank)ing game. Or start throwing dead puppies and see how long that lasts.
Other than that, that organization is rock solid. |
