NBC Sports Network – Probably the only bad thing about watching the playoffs is the network TV coverage. Unlike the regular season, local announcers know the players and there are habits like TV replays you can expect at certain times. You just don't get that from NBC Sports Network, their coverage is vague and boring. Randy Hahn and Drew Remenda are far superior announcers, same for the LA Kings with Hall of Famer Bob Miller and Jim Fox. I wish they had CBC or TSN in the States, their coverage is top notch.
Randy is a ridiculous homer...at least Drew has improved in that regard. |

I think broadcasts should be done by the announcers of 2 teams that are playing in the series. In our case, Randy and Drew do every game in SJ and LA announcers work in Staples Center. It's better for everybody this way. I appreciate the fact that NBC shows every playoff game nationally but when they send those east coast people here who don't watch the west coast teams regularly and therefore don't know them very well... it's just not the right thing to do, IMO. Why not alternate between the announcers of 2 teams playing in the series and do it on national TV? - Aliaksandrhn
Could work... I don't hate the Sharks announcers, I don't like them when it's Kings vs Sharks and it's their feed (but I get all LA games locally so that pretty much never happens) but they called a Kings vs Red Wings and they did a solid job, I got respect for them. There's obviously homerism when dealing with their own team, as expected, but they were good with calling a balanced game when it was two neutral teams, even if one was a rival.... Unlike Hayward last year in the Sharks series, he spent every minute he could explaining how Quick wasn't as good as everyone said he was and LA wasn't playing that well. It was awful.... Splitting announcers for a series would be okay with me though. |

There is some homerism when they do games for local networks. When announcing on national TV I am sure they would be instructed (and they would do their best, I think) to stay as objective as possible. Splitting the duties between 2 teams participating in the series would accomplish one big goal: it would provide us with announcers who actually know the teams well. I don't know why NBC sends those east coast people here. Even the Dallas Stars announcers would do a better job, I think. |

Randy is a homer for sure. He was a part of the group to bring hockey to San Jose back in the day, so that kind of explains it.
Remenda? Former Sharks coach, so obviously there's some bias there, but he can be critical of the team when it's warranted.

Razor did an outstanding job for his part during the kings-blues series, imo. |

That's pretty much my take. Randy I don't like at times but not always overboard, but Drew can be balanced when he wants to be. Neither hold a candle to Hayward. |

I thought the announcers were okay. I was also impressed by Nathan Couture and the Vancouver Sharks' power play. |

Ryan,
I totally agree with national coverage, they don't know anything. They say things about guys on your fav team that you have laugh at in a local market. Dishing out credit where it doesn't make sense, etc.
Good stuff!

Sharks announcers are actually pretty good compared to others.
Boston's are easily the biggest homers in the league |
