Timonen makes all his partners look better than what they really are. - Just5
That's true with a lot of players in the NHL. It's about how players compliment each other.

B.Schenn, L.Schenn and Second for Burmistrov, Bogosian, Trouba, and 2013 first. Trade Coburn for a late First.
Draft Pullock at 11. Ristolinen at 13, and Fucale as a late First.

I think Flyers fans would end up being very happy with Max Domi. I love his skill level, speed and the way he can agitate opponents into bad penalties. I don't care about his lack of size because I think he's plenty good enough to succeed anyway. - bmeltzer
I see Max Domi and think of Zack Rinaldo... dont know why... |

Actually, once it became pretty obvious the Flyers would have a high pick, quite a few of us decided to start paying more attention to the CHL and other draft prospects, to have a better idea of what is out there. - Jsaquella
i'm kinda liking your idea of trading the higher 1st and the 2nd to get 2 picks in the middle. estimated from a few sources that there are a good 35 solid prospects in this draft...your way might be the best way. |

Oh and the Flyers would have to get rid of the Fathers trip. No way Tie Domi is allowed to sit in Philly stands. He is dangrous enough from the penality box. |

Agreed. The Previous year Coburn and Grossman were heralded as a top shut-down pair. I think we are having short memories and trying to pigeon hole players with this past season's failings just a bit too fast. |

Agree re: Monahan. The other two are not slam dunks to go in top 10, especially Ristolainen. |

Since the oilers don't have the first pick they get to pick three players at once. |

yes. Stu Macgregor says Monahan's going to CGY at 6.
Lindholm is ranked at about 5. So he'll either go to CAR or EDM. BUF at the latest
Ristolainen could possibly drop to 10 but no further |

what a funny comment.
although maybe PHI should get some more picks. If they aren't signing to shore up that awful defence, they might as well draft
maybe fucale too. Bryz should be amnestied |

And there's been good availability of games to watch in the various playoffs and now Memorial Cup. Not my cuppa. But certainly OB18 was on top of it well before we knew how bad the Flyers would be this year. |

I'd make a sizable friendly wager one of the three slip down to or past #11. There is/are always some team/s willing and eager to stray from the general consensus. |

Bill, your thoughts on Shinkaruk? Can he be the offensive threat in the NHL considering his lack of size. I'm pretty intrigued by him. |

I saw Nurse play quite a few times this season while watching webcasts of SSM games to see Nick Cousins play (mostly before the NHL lockout ended). You know who he reminds me of at about the same age in terms of physical attributes and team role: Braydon Coburn.
I mean that as a compliment to Nurse, although some folks may not take it that way after Coburn's down season this year. - bmeltzer
I can see that..strong skating big d man...though I think Nurse is a stronger, more gifted natural athlete, has a better set of two-way tools and has more consistent snarl imo. |

i went lindholm because there seems to be at least a small chance he's there. monahan, from what i read, probably belongs in that off limits group (i can see why you didn't though)
if there's no major oversights though i'd be thrilled with pulock or risto

I'm not Bill, but I play him on TV.
Personally, I think he could be the steal of the draft, especially if he goes after top 10. For one thing, I don't think he's that small really. He's listed at 5'11" 175 (same-ish as Giroux) and might get to 6' 190, which is bigger than the "smurfs" of the league (Briere, St. Louis etc.). The kid has great balance/agility and is strong on his skates, he seems to avoid getting muscled around.
Back before the 2007 draft, I was following Patrick Kane pretty closely as he lit up the OHL to end his Jr career. Like, many I thought the Flyers would have a chance to draft him...we all know how that turned out...anyway, Shinkaruk reminds me of Patrick Kane in terms of his skating, moves and soft hands...Shinkaruk might even be an even more lethal goal scorer than Kane, but can make plays too...he's very creative, with a hockey IQ off the charts. In looking at most of the projected 1st rounders, I'd say Shinkaruk probably has a level of talent and hockey sense comparable with the top few (ranked) forwards. |
