I don't think there is such a thing as a safe bet in later rounds. It's the same approach, draft who you think is the best players. And trying to hit a homerun in the first round is a bad strategy. Take the best player. - MJL
I think you could say the opposite but it's probably because of roles they play on their current teams that play into their current rankings. |

Detriot vs Boston would be a pretty damn good battle imo.
Boston will make Pittsburgh show their grit, we will see just how much Murray, Iginla and Morrow can contribute. |

Stevens deserves a 2nd chance. Eakins is also deserving he's also earned it and put his time in with the AHL. |

Of the last five Stanley Cup winning coaches, 4 were in(at least) their second head coaching gig. Stevens certainly should get another shot. |

A Rangers fan posted a very interesting link about the cap-recapture provision in the new CBA. Basically, it punishes large market teams for the long-term contracts they agreed with players, ironically approved by the league. It should be a very interesting offseason. Also, a little nugget written by Brooks about the Flyers, which is interesting, but not very likely.

Yep. Teams found a loophole in Gary Bettman's wonderful 2005 CBA and exploited it, so Bettman made a point to punish teams for contracts that were totally legal and league approved retroactively. |

It is really unbelievable because he basically is punishing the teams who the casual fan recognizes and generally tunes in to watch. The Debs are particularly screwed with Kovy. Its going to be interesting to see the list of players who will be bought out when it is all said and done. Unfortunately, I believe Bryz will eventually be on that list. I wonder if Richards and Carter eventually get on the list? Carter's contract in particular is more structured to circumvent the cap.
I was all for the Weber offer sheet. However, with this new provision, I'm thankful the Preds matched. |

He has said a lot about the media which is probably deserved but he also said some things about the city as well. Regardless if any of it he truly said or was taken out of context it can be argued that he probably isn't too thrilled to be playing in Philly right now. Wouldn't surprise me to see the organization gauge his commitment to the team, community etc and go from there. |
