But everyone can accept Pulock's skill and potential. Surely, unless something went drastically wrong developing him, he could land top 5 on that list, if not top 3. - JAKEw1234
Everyone could accept Pitkanen being a future Norris contender, too....you never know in a draft where you're picking 18 year old kids. |

I have this sinking feeling Pulock is going to sit on the board only to fall to Dallas. - hereticpride
I could see him going as early as 7th to Edmonton, or dropping as far as 19th to columbus. |

Why are you settling on Pulock? Plenty to be excited about for the draft. |

I think that the position of the player we draft doesn't matter much at all. What matters is developing the player in the years after drafting/acquiring them. The Flyers have been very good at that in recent years.
By having guys like Hatcher and Laperriere working with the kids in the system, and having veterans like Timonen and Briere, along with a great coach and a savvy GM, the Flyers have been able to support the development of young players like Claude Giroux, Sean Couturier, Matt Read, Wayne Simmonds, Scott Laughton...
If we could just get into the habit of keeping our picks instead of trading them I think we'll see good returns on our long term investments. |

I'm with you. A few years ago, when the talk was about how the Flyers had the best defense in the NHL, there wasn't much talk about how the defense was acquired. I don't care how it's done as long as it get's done. When Boston won the Cup, and most of their team was acquired by means other then drafting,. I'm sure their fans didn't care about that at the parade. Name of the game is to win. Just win. I don't care how you do it.

I'm very intrigued by Shinkaruk. What is your top 11 prospect list, curious if anything has changed now. |

There's definitely a gray area to what I said and the Hamilton couturier ordeal is one that I concur with you on. I'm just saying that generally they've done a good job. They have certainly drafted some excellent forwards. |

if they don't take a defenseman with the top pick the city should burn. this is a pretty deep draft for defenseman....

They should take the best player available in the first round. Defenseman, winger, center or goalie.
If they take a defenseman, but pass up a better player, then they are morons. |

What if the dman they draft ends up being a 3-4 guy while the forward they pass on goes on to be a perrenial art Ross winner? |

Nope. Wouldn't even be discussed, outside of getting a guy to groom as his replacement. |

I find it rather interesting that there already is a sentiment that Hamilton is assured to be the better player over Coots already. I suppose the career paths of Tyler Myers and Victor Hedman should at least put doubt in the discussion. |

This is another aspect to be considered. Even tho I wish they opted for Hamilton it could very well play out that Hamilton is only a 3-4 guy while coots is perennial selke winner. |

Well, Hamilton saw pretty much the weakest competition among Bruins defensemen, and was outplayed by the lesser regarded Torey Krug during the playoffs.

Also, if you look at history, the Flyers have used their first and second round picks to bolster the blueline. |

With all the talk of drafting a D man I find this bizarre: There is talk of CAR buying out Pitkanen. He has only played 55 games in the past two years but has proven to still be a reliable offensive threat. He is 29 years old and makes 4.5M. Wouldn't it be intriguing if CAR buys him out to spend on Skinner and we picked him up to aid in our issue of more puck moving D? Unlikely, but it would be just how the universe works- in strange ways. |

It's about the situation also. I bet if Hamilton was on the Flyers, with the Season they had. The talk would be about his struggles and he's a bust from some.

Yep, it's going to be one exciting off season. The buyouts are a total wildcard. I mean a LECAVALIER and/or THORTON could be bought out and looking for new contracts. I'm loving it. |
