Carolina doesn't do that unless you are giving a good prospect .... This is a great draft so they will look for a better deal then van can offer

Florida has their future goalie so they aren't trading for one under contract for that many years

Manny wasn't too happy the way things ended and is going to try to play this year ... I don't know how great his relationship with gillis is anymore

- Redmile247

Manny can try to play but he was not that good since he has been back. I think his days are over as a player.

My bold move of the summer...

.....a three team deal where Miller goes to Pittsburgh and MAF heads out west to a team in desperate need of goaltending...Edmonton perhaps...

....yes I pregamed game six

My bold move is Luongo Edler to NJD for Kovalchuk with the promise that he plays with the Sedins

Gillis said on the radio the other day he didn't fire Rollie because he and Corey work well together. He also said when asked if Lu would be back he said" I doubt it"

Does not sound like he is interested in keeping Lu

Can you imagine the conversation with FA telling him he was going to have to write that check? How did Gillis save his own arse???

How are they going to trade Lou? Isn't this more of a buyout scenario?

I have heard of scenarios that they don't buy him out.

I just don't see how it is possible to trade him with the clause in the new CBA, but at any rate Gillis has alot of ground to make up. He must have had an incredible plan that he laid out for FA. Let's hope it's a good one!

Kovy probably scores 50 again with the twins...maybe 60....

Thing is...on that line who crashes the net and does the dirty work come playoff time?

Also I'm not sure NJ wants to take on that much of a long-term salary commitment, I remember their financial situation being not that great.

They're not compatible at all. It'd be a terrible line.

Not necessarily, reminds me of Ottawa's pizza line where they just put all three of their best players on the same line and let them light it up in the regular season....

I would move Daniel then ,seeing he has turned into a second center.

Not even close. Loungo has a long contract but is still a good player. Bryz has a bigger cap hit and probably would not be welcome on any NHL team at this point.

Broduer is still playing in his 40s why cant Lu.

- allen_gamble

a .907 isn't "good" it's below average backup goalie stats. That's why Lu's contract sucks. Shoulda traded him to TO when they could

There's a big difference between stacking a line and mashing together incompatible skillsets.

A buyout is the better option no matter how you slice it. The possibility of a recapture penalty sabotaging our cap down the road is not worth whatever he would bring back in a trade.

Hey I agree that line would be awful for the playoffs...but for the regular season I think they could get it done.....

DCT there is not a chance in he'll that they write Lu a cheque for 27 million dollars, they are not rich enough to do that. You may be able to take a 1.5 million cap hit over 18 years but to the best of my knowledge you have to pay the player out with cold hard cash. If I'm wrong, ok. But I don't think I am?

Compliance buyout payments are spread out over twice the term of the remaining contract. So Luongo collects $1.5 million every year for the next 18 years.

No way either of those 5 scenarios will happen. Emphasis on the Bryzgalov for Miller swap. Miller will be moved this summer for a significant return, whereas Bryz will be bought out by the Flyers and will go straight to the KHL for the remainder of his career.

canucks only move luongo for a prospect or pick if they eat a chunk of his salary every year. Booth isn't getting traded anywhere, he'll be a buyout.

One question for Canucks fans, you guys keep saying you want to trade Edler, and say he's an all star defenseman so they could get a lot back for him. I do agree he's worth something, but if he's that good, why do you all want him traded so badly? Because he's unreliable defensively? Doesn't play a consistent physical game? Doesn't chip in offensively enough?

Don't you think the rest of the league would see these things as well?

PS, whoever suggested Luongo was going to bring back a top six forward is on crack. That's like me suggesting Dipietro is worth anything to anyone. It's just not going to happen.

Ian, you need to learn how buyouts work. Nashville doesn't need to send anything to the Rangers if the Rags buy him out. He'll be a UFA.

Miller for Bryzgalov

Both players need a new start and both teams need to be better in goal. Miller solidifies the Flyers nets for at least one season and Bryz will surely be better if he can get out of Philly and into a more relaxed averment. The Sabres like to toss stupid money around, so I doubt taking on Bryz's deal is an issue.

that quoted above, is frickin hilarious. So the Sabres trade Miller who has one year left on his deal and take back a laughable contract for a goaltender that cost the Flyers a shot at the playoffs this year and has made himself a cancer to their locker room and a joke in the Philly media? I know Buffalo has signed some funny contracts, but this dream world you live in must serve some kind of mushrooms daily. That's just awful. What the hell were you thinking when you wrote that?

I think this has been asked and answered in every thread since the season ended.

We don't want to get rid of him, he's just the best player to move because:

1. He'd bring the biggest return.
2. He doesn't have a NTC.
3. We have the defensive depth to trade him for help up front.
