Listening to Sens fans going batpoop crazy about the reffing against Pittsburgh while Pittsburgh was just laying the wood to them was the topper. It's proof that most ref bashing is baseless. They're not perfect. People need to deal with it. - DoubleDown
i dont know what it is.. but something exists in some fans heads that wont allow them to believe their team was simply not as good as the one that beat them. |

The Leafs did have a meltdown in that game 7, but they would have won if the right call would have been made... |

Nice blog but as a king fan since inception, even if Fraser had called the penalty there is no guarantee Leafs would have won that game. And the loss to Boston sort of proves that. |

It's obvious that the NHL needs to change how they call penalties.
The game is a joke. It's the only sport when a penalty can cost a team a game night in and night out. In football it may happen once a year and that's the closest sport in comparion where a penalty can cost a game.
Anderson gets a penalty in OT of game 7 in the conference finals but they couldn't penalize Lucic for his blatant and horrible hit from behind on Gunnerson with 330 left in game 7????????????
Until the NHL gets their sh!t together I'm no longer a fan of the game. - HipHopisDead
How about the high stick that Chara got in the Rangers series? To hit Chara up high, it should be pretty obvious.
I don't know the solution, but every fan of every team could quote countless examples on this topic.
Enjoy your summer vacation. On to the Conference finals

I remember that sequence of events...There must have been 3 or 4 non calls in that 20 second stretch...Un(frank)ingbelievable... |

actually if the refs called one of the 7 penalties we would have won the game.
marchand water bottle toss
crowed tossing poop on the ice
lucic hit from behind
rask punch to lupul's face
chara had about 3 headshots, but we all know how that goes
or a delay of game seeing as every game they would take someone off on an icing and kill 30 seconds
i think they are trying to make kerry fraser feel better really.
basically, the reffing this year was the worst its ever been in the NHL, no matter what team your cheering for...for the most part |

a couple of things to ponder in regard to poor officiating
1) if its the case that it is only fans "complaining because their team lost"... maybe, just maybe the call/non-call did have a material impact on the game
2) in the Leafs case during that playoff year, would it be fair to say that the Wings were the better team on paper? in the standings? so they shouldn't play the games to determine the winner? - because the Wings were better...
3) in Kerry Fraser's particular case, why does his story of the event change every other time he's talked to about it? Phaneuf made a bad decision during game 4 of the recent Bruins series, apologized and acknowledge his error. Has Kerry Fraser ever outright apologized, or does he continue to jab at Leaf fans who rightly critique him for the blown call? Maybe, just maybe he can't bring himself to apologize for something he did that he knew then and knows now was completely bogus.
He didn't have the courage to call Gretzky on the play - period. Any other player and the situations different. We all know it. Fraser knows it. Just like then, he lacks the intestinal fortitude to admit or apologize for it even twenty years later.
My guess is its a non-issue if he apologizes early on. He (Fraser) can't put it bed, therefore the fans won't.
Pretty simply really. |
