Not in the playoffs he's not. Factor in age and it's a no brainer which goaltender a franchise would rather have. Lundqvist is very good don't get me wrong, but he is 30-37 career in the playoffs. Goal support or not, he's got to be criticized for that.

i wasn't saying you think he's better.

rangers PP in the playoffs: 9.1%
rangers PK in the playoffs: 75%

not going to get too far with those special teams #'s

i don't know what the bruins PP % numbers were in 2011, but they scored like 2 pp goals in the entire playoffs. crazy. and they won.

Quoting a goalie's win/loss record in the playoffs is a stellar way to judge a player.
- bradleyc4

So when Lundqvist wins in the Regular Season he's the "King", and he's stealing games etc... then when the playoffs roll around and the Rags can't get out of their own way the team around him sucks.

Wins/Losses isn't the end all be all, but his playoff record is what it is. It doesn't come with an asterisk. Cups aren't awarded for save % and GAA.

Rags PK would have been better if Krug wasn't crowning the King's skull on the regular.

He's the best and most consistent goaltender in the league. It hasn't worked out for them in the playoffs, but that should not be a criticism of the goaltender. His numbers are there.

I agree with you for the most part. Lundqvist isn't the problem obviously. He has played extremely well. My point was if he doesn't win he's going to get criticized, fair or not.

Imho, criticism at that simplistic level comes from folks who don't know the game very well.

i agree with all of this

(except i still don't want the kings to win again)

- Don'tForgetTocchet

exactly. eff the kings. hate them. wouldn't piss on them if they were on fire.

(which of course means they likely will win 4 or 5 cups in a row, given how my luck runs).

Odds are against them winning it this Season and repeating. Sooner or later some injuries will happen. Even so I think they're the best team in the League. By a very small margin. And Quick is bound to cool off at some point. Quick has a very interesting style of play. Love the Kings, and really enjoy watching them play.

How much credit does Johnny Stevens get for their very effective style of play?

I'd love to talk to Mike Richards over a beer or three about this.

As much as any Assistant Coach does. My feelings is that an Assistant teaches and Coaches the philosophies of the Head Coach. So I don't know how much has come from Stevens. I'm sure he has input. I think a lot of credit has to go to Terry Murray, and then Sutter coming in and tweaking it. And above all the absolute 100% commitment that every player on that team has, to playing the right way.

Proabably. The puck was a little behind him if I remember the play correctly. Tough to get the puck up like that.

He sure does. His hip and knee conditioning must be unreal. I've never seen a goalie get up and down as quickly as he does.

He attacks the puck more than any goalie I have ever seen. He literally goes out to the puck.. He looks HUGE in that net.

Yea definitely a tough shot... he rushed it when he probably had another second to just get his bearings and put it high.

Tortorella fired.

http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/story/?id=424238

I'm not advocating the release of Laviolette, but I think Tortorella would be a good fit in Philly.
