As would I. I'd hate to give him up. But Edler is exactly what the Flyers need. And I think he's a better all around player then Yandle is. - MJL
Of the guys I perceive to be possibly available, he's my #1 target. Definitely prefer him to Yandle. |

What happens if Bryz posts a .915 SV% and a 2.30 GAA. And the Flyers go deep into the playoffs to the Conference Finals, with Bryz playing equally well in the playoffs? Do you think they buy him out because of the recapture risk? - MJL
not with a deep plyoff run. |

If Van offered us Edler for Simmonds... It'd be hard for me to say yes, but even harder to say no. - jak521
It would cost more than just Simmonds, though. How much is the question. |

despite the eskin tweet, luukko was also saying it was 'up to bryz'. so while they seem to be leaning on bringing him back, i think there's wiggle room there based on bryz's thoughts and the mktplace for goalies.
bryz holds the cards because he gets a minimum of 23 mil and the flyers have to weigh the opp cost of paying him 8MM nxt yr vs ~1.6 for 14. this is assuming that the flyers are def going to go the CBO route...which i don't see how they don't given the recapture risk/ performance...but who knows? - isaiah520

He isnt as dynamic an offensive player (he is no slouch in the offensive zone though) and he is a better two way player... He and Schenn could make for a very solid top pairing...
It also makes for a bit of a tough situation for the Flyers (although a good one in a way) in who do you make the 7th d-man.
Ideally I'd look to move Meszy or Coburn for a forward and a defensive prospect...
Edler-Schenn
Timonen-Coburn/Meszy
Grossmann-Gusty - jak521
I wouldn't be concerned about a 7th. You can always find one. They still have Gervais. I would deal Meszaros. |

Depends though... If they came calling... theyd probably ask for B.Schenn first... Id counter with Hartnell (assuming he'd waive his NTC). They arent gonna be able to lean us over the proverbial pole, because they are in need as well. |

If the Edler is indeed made available. The Flyers have to make it happen. It's really that simple. Within reason. Everyone but Giroux, Voracek, and Couturier is on the table. |

said that luukko told him that bryz would be back nxt yr. this morning eskin hosted and jones wasn't quite convinced. between that and luukko's other comments about being back was "up to bryz", i think they are leaving themselves some wiggle room. |

I meant if you kept all of the guys we have now...
No trading Meszy or Coburn.
Edler-Schenn
Timonen-Coburn
Meszy-Grossmann
Gusty
Gusty is ready for a full time spot...
We could move one of the two aforementioned players to help offset the loss of offense.. |

I wouldn't keep all of them. They'll need to Cap space to make other moves. |

They have cap issues of their own, so I would think Hartnell would be a no go from Van's perspective.
Personally I'd keep Simmonds over Hartnell just because of their age and the length of Hartnell's deal. |

I don't think the decision is still up in the air. I think the decision has been made. And I don't think anything Bryzgalov has to say, is going to change that. Unless he flat out states he wants out. And he won't play here. |

Great replacement for Kimmo. Just like him, does everything so well, has great hockey sense, has a good, heavy shot from the point and can log huge minutes in any situation.
Also why I wanted Bouwmeester this past season. Similar type production/role. |

I agree on Edler. Don't with Bouwmeester. I think Edler is a much better all around player, who is worth his contract. I don't think Bouwmeester is. |

that's a possibility if he wants to go to the K...and Jones also is not sold on any done deal either way |

JBo is the Joe Blanton of the NHL...more talent than Blanton, but similar output in their respective sports. |

I'm a fan of Keith Jones. But he isn't a guy who exactly spends a lot of time looking into things. I wouldn't put much stock in that. I think Bryzalov's play is going to be the overwhelming main factor in what the Flyers do. If he stays another Season, does his play warrant staying in the contract for the Flyers. That's it. Not what he says, or what he wants. |

I think, similar to guys like Coburn and Erik Johnson, his offensive game never really took off the way people expected.
They see these big, smooth-skating defensemen in juniors and give them high offensive potential. But it doesn't always translate into NHL points. |

he had some success in Tampa before the injury issues, but I think his contract could be prohibitive. - Jsaquella
You don't think the goalie market's going to be tepid again?
I can count the number of teams that may possibly have a starting spot open on one hand (CGY, FLA, MIN, NYI, PHX) and that number could quickly fall to 1 depending on whether or not Kipper retires if a bunch of guys choose to stay put.
Then you have the possibly adding COB candidates (Luongo, Bryz, Miller, maybe even Fleury) to the present pool of UFAs, the possibility that the few teams with two starting-caliber goalies could look to leverage that depth, and Tim Thomas still being out there, and you're left with a pretty bleak outlook for UFA goalies for a third year running.
The Flyers might possibly have something in Mason, but this summer could present a one-time opportunity to pick and choose between a number of Vezina-level candidates and get them signed for low$/short-term. |

Don't get me wrong, Erik Johnson is a quality offensive defenseman. I just think more was expected. |
