I think so too, what kind of value exactly does a #1 pick hold? You are probably going to trade very very good player or two for someone that may or may not pan out.

If you watch the Roy presser, his mention of trading/not trading/whatever was in response to a question about what his role in player-personnel decisions would be. He was just saying that they'd discuss all possibilities as a group. People have seized on that and somehow turned it into "Roy's trying to move the 1st-overall pick".

I posted this in Esplen's thread earlier this morning:

It's been over 10-years since any team has moved 1st-overall, and it's only moved four times in the past 30-years.

Plus, historically, you'd first need at least a top-4 pick in the same draft to have any kind of shot at moving up to 1st-overall:

1999 VAN used #4 to move up to #1,
1999 ATL used #2 to move up to #1,
2002 CBJ used #3 to move up to #1,
2003 PIT used #3 to move up to #1



As for trading every pick in the draft to move up, it's been tried before, and oddly failed. Of course, the two GMs involved were Snow and Howsen, lol.

I like Mantha and Carrier.
