2 at 24:00, 4 and 7 were all roughly at 22:00 TOI. I like the balance.

True, but Hawks outshot them 36-22, and as predicted, controlled the puck most of the game. LA will likely play better in this series, and they'll need to. They looked slllllooooooowwwww. And not so big and bad physically.

Again, am impressed with the Hawks physical response.

Crawford was very solid aside from the puckhanding boner.

Hossa, Sharp, Kane all terrific. Oduya and Keith very good.

Hey JJ, what is going on with Toews? I didn't get to watch the whole game, but don't remember hearing his name at all in the 3rd except for a time he got drilled.

- fvineze

So the clueless Crawford gets the win in game 1 of the Conference Finals.

I'll take it...

They've always been slow. Like you predicted in your blog- the Hawks speed was an issue.

The Kings strong forecheck and efficient zone exits make them appear to be faster than they really are because the puck moves faster than any skater (duh). Take away those two aspects of their game (which the Hawks did) and the Kings are wildly exposed for being the sloths that they are.

Having BIG GRITTY DUDES is cool and stuff, but they are definitely not FAST.

Nah, he was his usual self, not much open ice for him but he was battling all night.

Brown took a good run at Toews and Kaner went after him....somewhat...lol.

- philco28

He did a nice job hanging all over Brown and forechecking him when Brown went around the net and not allowing him to carry the puck out of the zone. The little shove after was a nice touch, but I was talking more about Kane sticking to him like glue and not allowing him the easy out of the zone.

We've got a Canucks hockeybuzz playoff pool. 20 guys snake draft. I had 19th pick. I've got Hossa, Sharp, Shaw, Seabrook, Frolik, Handzus... so I'm a Hawks fan now, leading our pool.

Stick by what I said earlier today. This series feels a lot like the 2010 WCF. Will probably be closer, but the Hawks' speed right now looks like a big problem for LA.

Ok.

I have been able to just watch here and there Hawks games, and was surprised to see only a goal and a few assists for him so far this playoffs. Then I didn't remember seeing him do anything in the 3rd, so it just surprised me.

Wonder if Richards was injured from Bolland hit, another HUGE late game hit from Bolland.

Richards looked like he either wound up with scrambled eggs or glass jaw

I've been one of his detractors many times, but thought Keith was fantastic this game. Getting shots on net, pressuring the puck carrier and just playing a solid all round game. Looked like the Norris Trophy winner he was.

Crawford was rock solid after that first goal and I though Frolik was all over the ice. Played another solid game.

That was nice too..think Brown will be looking to punish 88 physically NOW more than he did before this.

Hawks definitely the faster and more interested team. There was really nothing impressive about the Kings today. It's as though they were playing to win 1-0, totally depending/expecting Quick to stop everything.

You gotta believe the Kings can bring more than they showed tonight. If not, this will be a real short series.

TSN replayed the Hossa goal, just before it Toews had the puck in the corner and had 4 Kings on him. Maybe Toews is doing exactly what is needed of him for now.

He was definitely shaken up after that hit. Had a tough time getting back to the bench and looked a little dazed walking off the bench after the game.

best thing was watching hawks not hold on to the puck, quick passes, always move your feet

Kings looked lost as they couldnt line anyone up for a hit
