The punishment on Cooke was extreme, but then again he's got a long history of dirty hockey. Still, the punishment seemed a little more than necessary.

Cooke hit was on a forechecking play. Straight north south skating path to the right of the net, Cooke trailed Mcquaid by a stride and a half and took him hard enough into the boards, right in between the numbers. It was a foot from the boards so he took him upright, it wasn't a arm extended shove. But it was square in between the numbers. I was surprised he was thrown out but it was probably to avoid the whiplash. I don't think either will be suspended.
