There should be no review for either. I knew McQuaid wasn't injured. I was thinking Neal should have acted injured. Honestly, Boarding has been the missing penalty in these playoffs. No wonder these guys don't know what's acceptable in the post season.

I only saw a replay of the cooke hit, Neal did stay down for a bit, but either way if you were gonna toss cooke you gotta toss Marchand there

Gotta stay away from the emotional scrums. This team cannot play that way. Get back to being the surgical assassins they are and they will win.

I gotta wonder what Crosby thought he was accomplishing going at Z like that

or bumping Rask getting off the ice

I'm pretty sure Chara went high on Sid behind the net as the period was ending. I can't blame Sid for being touchy about his face. He needed to control himself there however.

Honestly, they seemed a bit consumed with showing the Bruins that they are tough.

Seems crazy that he isn't wearing the protective mask anymore. I'm sure he was cleared to ditch it, but with all of the issues he's had it seems like he's pushing his luck, especially against this team.

I don't think it's smart either. If he breaks it again his season is over......along with the rest of the team.

Some say that after an injury like that, it's easier to break in another spot than in the one you just fixed. I'm sure he's fine.

Why Kuni missed that first shot in front of Rask? It was the firts shot of the game, first shift....if he scored, BOOM! Different game.

when the Penguins lose, do they blame their coach's system like the Rags fans do? or do you guys actually give the Bruins credit for being pretty good

Is this a joke? I've read your blog after losses and it's 15 pages of fire the coach or fire the GM and you KNOW it's true. Maybe you need to go review some of JJ's blogs after a loss and come back with a relevant comment. By the way, nearly everybody here gave the B's credit for the win......so, basically, go F yourself!

Bruins were pretty good.

Held it together when they were being out played.

Made the most of their chances and the Pens D gaffes.

Its all you can ask for in an away win.

well boys... not surprised by the result but surprised by the score. going to make a couple points and then get out of here. I expect the trolls to be out tonight, hopefully the refs have done a good job tonight.

1. I'm not worried. This team played a good game tonight until the 3rd. Had this been a 3-0 game where Pitt had little chances and under 20 shots, i'd be a little worried.
2. That Cooke major lost us the game IMO. They didn't score but that took the wind out of our sails. I actually thought it might bring us together better. It got the crowd back in the game and got the team jumping. But sometimes those things can end up killing you. it took our vibe away and screwed up our lines. Cooke is a very underrated part of this team and losing him was huge.
3. Was it a penalty? yes. a 5 minute? no. a typical matt cooke penalty. Refs have it tough. they only see it one time at game speed. looking at it again and again would lead you to the conclusion that it wasn't a major. but looking at it quickly once could lead you to either conclusion.
4. was marchand's hit a penalty? yes. was it a 5 minute? no. Look, Im not for "evening it up". What's a major is a major and whats a minor is a minor. I don't believe that blowing 2 calls and calling it even is better than getting one right and one wrong.
5. Hockey gods were against us tonight. we had a ton of chances. Rask played great, but even still we could have had 3 or 4. Nights like that happen. cant get discouraged, just need to come out stronger and finish.
6. I hate sounding like a broken record, but seeing Bylsma get this outcoached is just plain annoying. this man is one of the more stubborn guys in hockey.
7. Why is Iginla not on the top PP? Guy is one of our best PP guys so far and he's playing with fricking Jokinen on the 2nd PP? Give me a break. I still believe that 2 PPs are a better idea... but who asked me...

all in all, it was a decent game for the penguins. losing home ice sucks, but im not nearly as concerned about this loss as I was about the Islanders games we lost. Penguins need to capitalize on our chances. Boston did it tonight and they deserved a win.

We have been down 1-0 in plenty of series before.... we will recover.

and just the defensive breakdowns this team has is awful. Crosby got caught puck watching on goals 1 and 2. Niskanen was awful. Eaton lost the puck on a one guy forecheck...

just dumb decisions and actions being made by these guys. you just cant allow it in the Conference finals.

it's been happening every game this postseason.

I do think the layoff hurt this team. when you're an offensive machine like the pens, a large gap will hurt you. especially on the PP.

it's not an excuse. both teams had around the same layoff, but I think it was a more negative think for the pens than bruins given their styles of play.

Nisky has been awful the entire playoffs. It's remarkable he still gets a jersey. Sid possibly had his worst game of the playoffs.....I'm not worried that it will become a habit, but he deserves blame.

They've gotten away with it so far, but of course, they won't against this team. The forwards missed several defensive assignments. I'm not nearly as worried as I was after a couple of those Isle games. They had lots of great chances and didn't get a bounce tonight. If Rask plays the rest of the series like he did tonight, the B's will move on. Halak 2.0

Bruins needed the rest, the physical style they play takes a toll, the Pens were rolling early but they seemed to get more disjointed as the game went on which surprised me.

Rask had his share of luck tonight as well, but he did play a hell of a game, and the Bruins will need him to continue close to that level to move on.

agreed..

penguins had 3 posts, one that was 1mm away from going in as the 1st period ended, and kunitz was left all alone in front but he lost the puck.

this game through 45 minutes was no different from other playoff games thus far... difference was that penguins didn't finish like they usually do.

if they play this way all series, I like our chances

yep, Bruins need to tighten it up in their own end, can't keep allowing the Pens those kinds of chances or they be done in 5

A classic case of pressing. We acknowledge this team isn't a defensive juggernaut, but they've rarely had a problem scoring to stay in games. They didn't play a patient game.....maybe they can make that adjustment, but frankly, I'm not counting on it. We'll See...
