That was an unfortunate result of a hip check, not an illegal hit,
- Rayven

He was suspended 5 games for it.

The same argument could be make of Cookes hit on Savard. It was the unforunate result of a hard hit, not an illegal hit. Remember at that point those were legal hits. Remember Richards on Booth, Weight on Sutter and a couple hundred of Stevens hits.

Thanks to Cooke right? Watching Savard's videos, looks like he put himself in quite a lot of dangerous plays. I don't think he used his smarts to avoid checks or cover himself when needed. He was not a smart player in that regard. Not saying this to protect Cooke or anything, just something I noticed.

Cooke and Marchand should had been penalized accordingly. It didn't happen that way.

down 1-0 in a game after being a better team in the first two periods, you have to be able to score on the pp and NOT dump and chase all the time!!!

PP1a)

geno neal morrow with dupes and letang on point

PP1b)

sid iggy kuni with martin and nisk on point

HCDB is horrible at in game situational awareness. He needs to put iggy with sid and kuni with neal when sh!t aint going right.... horrible coaching simply horrible coaching from him...

- nh4442

What are you trying to do?!?! Change the subject from Matt Cooke the devil? Can't be allowed.

I think Iggy should be with Sid on the first line and Kuni with Geno, but my biggest disappointment with Disco at the moment is not using Iggy on the #1PP. We've needed that right handed bomb for years and now we have it and Iggy got 1:46 of PP time out of 8mins. That's just dumb.

I don't care who sits, but we need Vitale to take some FO's. Lastly, it is simply not possible for Despres to play worse than Nisky did last night. NOT POSSIBLE!

I still don't consider Marchand's transgressions as severe as cooke's. It's quite likely that I have a skewed pov considering the Savard incident but either way it's another thing I shall agree to disagree on

The Bruins PP hasn't been the same since

- Rayven

What a joke. Blaming Cooke for your inability to have a good power play three years later. You guys are like Notre Dame football fans. Until last year, you were blaming Ty Willingham for the failures.

Marchand's hit was the same hit that Cooke did. Was Cooke's hit more severe, or did McQuaid's performance sell it more? It's not hard to figure this out champ. Marchand certainly isn't a clean player. He is dirty as hell too.

Surprised no one mentions that big fairy Chara going right after Sid's jaw last night. Thought that was bush league from a 6'8 dude on a 5'10 dude.

I mentioned it. That's actually what got Sid going. People couldn't figure out what happen there, but that giant douche two fisted Sid right in the mouth. Like I said before, can't blame him for being touchy about that...

There's a video on NHL.com "Dream Draft: #29" about Mike Green with Dave Reid saying "he's rounded his game into a complete offensive and defensive defenseman"..wtf? Did I miss something?

Chicago is killing the Kings. Going to LA with a 2-0 lead. I wish we still had this chance

Brandon Sutter is playing like a player who deserves a pay check less than $3M/year...we need a bit more from him. Dupper please wake up and give us a great game tomorrow

Marchands hit was the same, if not more violent. If Cooke gets tossed for a game, then why not Marchand? Also isn't he a repeat offender
- drummer829

They both should have been 2 minute minors, but game 2 is upon us. Time to leave it in the past.

After seeing the replay of the Cooke hit, McQuade deserves an Oscar. Kicks his heels up falls to the ice grabbing his face (which didn't hit the glass), then laid on the ice in an almost fetal position. Then proceeds to go down the runway to further the fraud. Ridiculous. Neal did nothing like that.

1. Matt Cooke's hit was no worse than Marchand's.
2. Matt Cooke got 5 minutes for being Matt Cooke
3. Adam McQuaid should win something for that embellishment. I didn't know Consol had a sniper in the rafters.
4. Boston fans whine about Crosby and Cooke yet their team is filled with just as many whiners, cheap shot punks, and divers. Boston is the last team that should talk about those things.
5. Marchand didn't deserve 5 minutes just because Cooke got 5 minutes. 2 wrongs don't make a right.

that is all.

If you could give up Sutter, Doumolin and Pouliot right now for Jordan Staal knowing he would leave for nothing after the playoffs, would you do it?

Jordan Staal is exactly the kind of player we need right now

Brandon Sutter is playing well under his capability, sometimes he shows flashes and has the odd brilliant play but I think he has underperformed quite a bit this season and playoffs.

87 14 9 line needs to go balls out and get some things going.

No need to pay attention to all this negative media BS, the Pens trying to beat up the B's.... pfft They're playing playoff hockey, they'll get their game going and give it to them good.

It didn't even take me a replay to know McQuaid embellished the injury to draw a five-minute penalty and a DQ for Cooke. Julian is one of the biggest complainers in the league when it comes time for people who embellish against his team, but yet, is fine with his guys doing it.

I probably would still do this trade. We got a real good package for a player with 1 year left on his contract and taking in consideration he demanded a trade to a specific team. I like Sutter's game but on these playoffs he's been mostly invisible. Sometimes I think he needs to get some weight on. He looks weak in some battles but compliments Cooke well.
