Hawks PK operating at 98% efficiency with no defensive Dmen in the lineup.
Speed on D and the ability to move pucks as well as getting to loose pucks seems to be a growing trend rather than having hitters and shot blockers. - Just5
Helps to have two studs on the blue line as well (Keith & Seabrook). |

Exactly, and I think they may be worn out trying to compensate for all of it. - MBFlyerfan
I think the biggest thing is that they aren't getting much from Kopitar and Brown.

It's not a growing trend. It's been a key to the game for a long time. Anyone who thinks that the Flyers defense moves the puck well enough, has to question that opinion watching both of these teams play.

I believe that Carter has one of the highest point totals of the 2nd round. And in game 1 yesterday, The Carter/Richards/Penner line was LA's best line overall. |

Also seen plenty of great scoring chances being denied by very good goaltending. |

Yeah, and the Hawks have two, and they have already won the Stanley Cup and are close again to going to the Finals. - ravishingone
3, I count Duncan Kieth. And don't be so quick to assume we don't already have a second one in the building. Couturier has the potential to grow into a very Toews-esque player. We just need that defenseman franchise guy imo. |

I know Couturier is young but he has a ways offensively to be on the level of Toews who is young himself. Toews is a monster at both ends. |

I see Couturier more as a J. Staal than Toews. If he turns into either, I'll be happy. |

And Couts still has 4-5 years to develop a great offensive game before he even reaches Toews's age. That's half a decade before he's even considered a young player on the verge of his prime. Give him time. |

Couturier has the leadership, work ethic, and maturity of J toews. Traits like he has help him develop better than you're everyday prospect, imo. It's why I think Lauridsen will be better than a 7th dman, which is what many consider his ceiling to be. He has the work ethic of a horse, and I think that will translate in him developing better. |

I'm giving him time but he has a lot of work to do offensively to be on that level of Toews. Toews been producing numbers like that since he entered the league in 2007. |

if I'm the Flyers I'm not trading assets to move up. If anything I'm trying to trade down and get a couple top 30-40 picks unless my guy is there at at 9 or 10 for a little extra.
I'd keep Gagne, but as many pointed out it's going to depend on what's there to spend. I take it they're not going to resign Hall? |

I'm as big of a Coots fan as anybody. My basic point is I don't think you can't collect enough elite talent. I certainly agree the Flyers need defensive help, but should the Flyers bypass potentially getting an elite forward to draft a good d-man in the first round of this year's draft because it is a need?
I couldn't tell you if Nichushkin will be a better pro then Pullock. However, if the scouting dept. believes Nichushkin can be the better player and they can acquire a higher draft pick while losing some assets, I wouldn't have a problem with it. Hypothetically, let's say it might cost Simmonds or Read plus another player plus #11 would it be worth it if Nichushkin becomes a top 10 player in the league. To me, it is worth, but it is certainly a risk and the scouting department has to be right. |
