And Couts still has 4-5 years to develop a great offensive game before he even reaches Toews's age. That's half a decade before he's even considered a young player on the verge of his prime. Give him time.

He has two years to Captain a cup winning team, like Toews did at that age.

Couturier has the leadership, work ethic, and maturity of J toews. Traits like he has help him develop better than you're everyday prospect, imo. It's why I think Lauridsen will be better than a 7th dman, which is what many consider his ceiling to be. He has the work ethic of a horse, and I think that will translate in him developing better.

La looks overmatched in this series. Looks like chi town in 5
- JoeRussomanno

One of the first times in the last few years worth of playoffs that I've seen LA on the bad side of a clinic....

I'm as big of a Coots fan as anybody. My basic point is I don't think you can't collect enough elite talent. I certainly agree the Flyers need defensive help, but should the Flyers bypass potentially getting an elite forward to draft a good d-man in the first round of this year's draft because it is a need?

I couldn't tell you if Nichushkin will be a better pro then Pullock. However, if the scouting dept. believes Nichushkin can be the better player and they can acquire a higher draft pick while losing some assets, I wouldn't have a problem with it. Hypothetically, let's say it might cost Simmonds or Read plus another player plus #11 would it be worth it if Nichushkin becomes a top 10 player in the league. To me, it is worth, but it is certainly a risk and the scouting department has to be right.

- ravishingone

Don't get me wrong, I'd easily give simmonds or read + a 1st + a prospect to get Nich, he might actually be my favorite prospect in this entire draft, but I just am afraid of the price tag. I don't think Read + our 1st + a prospect will get us the #3. Nich will be an instant reward, too. He said in his interview that he actually EXPECTS to play on the top line of whatever team he is drafted to, I wouldn't be surprised if he barely even knows what the AHL is; it's just not in his realm of thought . He's 1 thing we really need, though. A big, young, goal scoring left winger with buckets of potential. If a good deal could be struck, I wouldn't hesitate. I just don't think there's any way to get it besides for through a major overpayment.

That was a big conversation point of the commentators in his rookie year plus, you can additionally tell from his interviews, as well as his maturity in-game. Sometimes when I hear him talk in interviews I think I'm listening to J Toews

I absolutely agree with you. With the Flyers organization, they are never afraid to pull the trigger on a major deal, moving major assets. I also believe it is unlikely they move up, but it wouldn't shock me especially because they usually don't suffer from sticker shock, which is both a good and bad thing.

Honestly, I would be more shocked if they traded down to accumulate picks then trade up to get the guy they have identified.

I agree with that trade totally, though. Imagine just how much lower our team would've landed without L Schenn and his 32 minute nights

Then we could've had both JVR and Nichushkin on our roster next season.

Uh, they traded Kent Manderville for Billy Tibbetts, not Murray. He was traded to the 'Canes for a late round pick

The problem isn't a lack of balls, it's a lack of a consistent plan. 4 years ago we were excited of the young nucleus of Ricahrds, Carter, Umberger, Upshall, Lupul, etc.

Now we're excited over the young core of Giroux, Voracek, Simmonds, Couturier & Schenn(s). Hopefully, they don't trade this one away over press reports and nonsense.
