Still waiting for that vaunted Pens offense - the best in the playoffs in the last 20ish years? (against the Isles and Sens) - to show up. |

Chara's still a beast, even though he's struggled at points. But they have solid guys throughout and the entire team is committed to team defense. If you have forwards that do their job for 200 feet it makes the defense look better. - Jsaquella
All the elite d-men as they get older as their physical abilities decrease, their hockey IQ is off the charts to make up the difference. Even with his age, our team looks a whole different with Pronger playing. |

I love Iggy, but he's not an alpha dog anymore - Jsaquella
Bah, F him. He chose the biggest front-runner available and is down 2-0 to the team he snubbed. And he screwed over Calgary a bit in the process. I think it's quite fitting he and the Pens are losing. |

Yeah, also, guys like Pronger and Chara never had top level speed, always used smarts to maximize their effectiveness. |

It's funny that the pens pursued iggy and not Jagr. Is there bad blood? |

Pens certainly went "all in" for the playoff run. I don't think they have pick in the draft until the 4th round. |

It stinks to not watch the pens get pounded. Electric is out tonight. Thank god I charged my iPad some. |

I expected both Hawks and Pens to win easily. I am quite shocked about the latter series. No just at the result but that its not-competitive and the Pens offence is totally shut out. This is about a good a team as they can field around core (MAF/Letang/Malkin/Crosby). Do they resign Malkin after next year or trade him? |

I guess, they seem to be doing alright in Scranton. Obviously, Bylsma has no confidence in Despres. |

either do the rags, if i'm not mistaken
EDIT: nah they got 2 3rd rounders. none in the first two though. pens also have a third rounder (29th pick in that round...90th overall) |

This is how he usually plays in the playoffs. This has been his fourth straight postseason -- and fifth of seven -- in his career with a sub 90 percent save percentage. Even in the Pens' Cup-winning year, his playoff save percentage was .908 which isn't usually good enough for a team to go all the way. His one outstanding playoff was in 2007-08.

Nash 5 more years at $7.8 million/ yr. Didn't exactly have a strong playoff run, maybe a little buyer's remorse. |

It's pretty normal for a rookie D to be a scratch or play very sparingly this time of year.

Bill, you think he maybe a buyout candidate. The Pens goaltending situation is just a mess. |

I would agree with that. I do think however that the Flyers d-core even with the injuries is good enough with a sound defensive gameplan and forwards committed to back checking. - ravishingone
I think they should have that sound defensive gameplan and forwards comitted to backchecking regardless of who is on D...having superior skating puck carriers and dynamic offensive producers (on D) is something the team can surely use, but the defensive discipline and three zone comittment from the forwards is something they really need. |

With Grossman/Schenn, and not to mention that Coburn/Timonen are no slouches when it comes to physical play/shutting down players, his defensive short comings shouldn't be an issue. - GirouxForTheShow
I'd be more worried about the punishing game and the toll that might take on his back, so I'd give him softer matchups, O zone starts and #1PP time...avg around 22 minutes/gm.
