Shaw offense is the wall work, his speed and and his skill-set, but that gets done because he is fearless...and a Little Ball of Hate TM
Before Stan Mikita reformed, he played along the same lines as Shaw does, unafraid and used his stick as the equalizer.... - wiz1901
Sorry, but didn't Obama call Marchand the 'Little Ball of Hate'? |

JJ,
Lets fast forward to July 6th, 2013....
What kind of moves do you see the Hawks making?
Who gets traded / not resigned / resigned on this roster.... who do you see making a run at a roster spot from Rockford?
My thinking is that you wont see zus, bolland, rozsival, stalberg, montador and olesz (buyouts) back
Does any of TT, Danault, Mcneill, Pirri, Stanton, Clendening make the roster next year? - ChicagoDave
Montador and Olesz are definitely gone. Bolland is likely gone. Stalberg, probably.
Handzus and Rozsival will likely be offered limited dollar deals and why not?
Of the list of prospects you name above . . . Stanton, Ben Smith, possibly Joakim Nordstrom would be the guys I could see matriculating. Danault or McNeill maybe laster next year.

He may have doubled his salary this playoff season. Earlier this year weren't we talking about signing him to a 1.5-2M/per extension? Now people are talking 3-3.5M range on these boards. I hope he'll take a hometown discount to stay so we can afford to keep Krugs/Leddy and fill some other holes. - Lash8
Yeah...you got that right:
WE (here in this blog) thought we were gonna close the purse strings and NOW they will be shaking the purse out on the table trying to find one coin stuck in the fabric.
Bickell has said he would love to stay,
and he would love to be compesnated too, for playing at an almost mininum NHL salary, with nobody coming to him early saying, we waht to make this right, sign an extention...
But what I said isn't fair either.
Bowman has to wait becuase you don't play you Cap hand earlier or some douche like Doug Wilson starts trying to pick off YOUR players instead of drafting and developing his own....

Kruger was also playing quite aggressively last night. Some hard hits and at one point I saw him wrestling with an LA player. We'll have to dub him 'The Mouse That Roared'. |

That's true I do remember you saying that, Al.
I just didn't believe it would actually work or seem that simple.
Facing the Kings at home will be chalked up as another huge test for the Hawks. - teh_HAWKZ
Agree so far pretty simple, but that's what happens when your better players can dominant....Which wasn't the case with the Wings.
Richards being out hurts the Kings a lot.....
Hawks continue to roll with a 4-2 victory, Quick looks human - "Soft" Hawks taking care of tough Kings:FOX Chicago: http://bit.ly/15ynJtj

and you have to think Mayers and Carcillo too.
I think they will use their farm to fill and also look to recoup draft picks....it is just waht you all expected.... NO OUTSIDE additions to fill your 2nd line centre, big checking forward, and tough deeman fantasy.

Yes he did, he was quoting an already used nickname. As far as I know the original 'little ball of hate' was Pat Verbeek. |

Handzus won't be back unless he plays for $1 mill or less...Mayers no and Carcillo would have to be traded.

yeah, the folks in Minnesota think he sigend there too:
http://www.startribune.co...orts/blogs/209685101.html
Raanta is a late-maturing, late-blooming, undrafted European free agent that could potentially be a pretty good NHL goaler.
Raanta, 24, who represented Finland in the recent world championships, went 21-10-11 with a 1.85 goals against average and .943 save percentage during the regular season for Assat Pori. That earned him league MVP and Best goalie honors.
He then backstopped his team to the SM-liiga title with a 1.45 goals against average and .955 save percentage, which was good for the Jari Kurri Trophy – Finland’s equivalent to the Conn Smythe
He is six feet tall and just under 190 pounds. - wiz1901
What little I can find on him technqiue wise is he is a battler, very well-schooled, positional, though not super fast feet.
Mjulqvist, have you seen him play much? |

A guy who plays much bigger than his size due to his gigantic heart. Wait til he matures physically (which he hasn't yet—not even close).

Does LeBlanc fit into the Hawks plans next year you think? I guess it'll be determined with his new contract - 1-way? 2-way? I think some time in Rockford would do him wonders. |

Friend of mine who went to the same college as LeBlanc.. just 15 years earlier seems to think he be a guy out of training camp to make the squad. IF and that's a big if.. that leaves 1-2 holes on the Hawks going into next year. Backup Goalie and a Big Winger to play with 19-81 |

Remember how Crawford was always terrible handling the puck before this playoffs? Did he work on this? I don't remember him doing much puck-handling this regular season.
He seems more comfortable at reading the situation and not panicking like he used to. Kudos for him for improving this facet of his game. - Kentxo
He used to handle the puck as if he expected a snake to jump out of it at any second. It's good to see him looking confident instead of terrified with the puck on his stick. |

Saw his youtube stuff..all kinds of crazy stuff ...sorry I had to.
Seriously though...I see him at Rockford next year and maybe a call up for a game or two. I see Morin on the 4th line here next year , Smith on the 3rd and Stanton as our 6-7 dman next year. Maybe Nordstrom gets a look as well.... |

I think advancing past the 1st round and the comeback against Detroit has been huge for Crawford's confidence. Does anyone think that Crawford would have ever tried to make the play (let alone would have made it) on the shot after the crazy bounce off the glass last night? That was 100% a confidence play. Crawford is playing with "it" right now. |
