When did Miller become a bonafide #1 goaltender?
- keatondixon

Oh I'd say right before the flyers paid Ilya Bryzgalov 51 million to not be able to stop a beach ball. Philly would kill to have a goalie like Miller try again use your head think of a good one next time

Hm. I feel like Miller needs to be included to move up in the draft. Let's just say The Sabres not only fail to move into the top 5 but also Miller let's Darcy know he wants out without making a media circus of it. And let's say Minny wants Miller. Trade options.

-Miller and a 2nd for Jonas Brodin/Matt Dumba
-Miller and Stafford and a 2nd for Brodin/Dumba and Setoguchi

Few other decent options but making this trade will allow the Sabres to pick upa top defensive prospect, allowing them to use their picks on elite forwards who can score. Also with that second proposal. We basically save a million bucks. Not that it matters, but Stafford can go play with Parise now cause they're all BFF and stuff.

No need to flame, but counter offers are certainly welcome. Just tossing ideas around.

- TheSabresTaco

If Minny trades Brodin their GM needs to be fired immeditaley after he makes that trade. Hes their future #2 dman alongside Suter. No way they would trade him

The E is for every save he makes, the L is for the Losses he avoids the team from getting, the I is for the Intensity of which he plays, the T is for his tenacious persona, and the E lets you know that he is exceptional

They'd (Buffalo) need to retain almost all of it.
Also, keep in mind he's a UFA in 1 year. If they're going to move anything of value, they'd want to keep him for more than 1 year, at which point they'd be on the hook for the full salary.

they are going to have plenty of cap room if van/miller are gone. if the $abre$ have to pay some extra money to get a better return when theres only 1 year left on the cap hit, why the hell not.

Don't forget, Sabres can take on half of that cap hit to make Miller fit better w certain teams that may be interested

The blog is related to moving Ryan Miller. Which part are you missing?
- sambarugh

The original blog had no mention of Miller, stopped after the Rannta stats. Also had a picture of Suter for the blog picture.

Ya i guess its only 1 year... and you guys wont have that much salary to worry about next year
All i know is that Minny sure as (frank) aint gonna trade their #2 dman for an aging, past his prime goalie.

if Darcy plays this right you SHOULD get good prospects... not GREAT prospects... Miller is past his prime and numbers keep declining. Sure hes still a top 15 goalie but top 10 is debatable now

if Darcy gets a great prospect for Miller he should do that trade immediately.

Vanekl is a different situation... guy in his prime, top line W, they NEED to get a great prospect for him

Since u guys have no 1st,
Would #16 overall be enough?

- jdfitz77

Not quite enough, include a roster player too.......like a solid 2nd or 3rd line player...in my opinion.

Depends who offers us the best return
We've shown we'll take in players salaries to make a deal work
(kotalik in the Rgehr trade, Pardy in the Ott trade)
So it's reasonable to think eating some salary/cap hit is an option if we get the return we're looking for

It's an option, but it shouldn't be the first thing to think of.
Just like there's the option of trading him to Min for a package including Heatley (to help them out with the cap) and getting a good return and then using a CBO on Heatley...but it's not preferred.
