I have no faith in him whatsoever. If he fails to make adjustments, how do you expect him to all the sudden get a clue and make them now? Last night was clear he didn't learn a single thing from game 1. What's to say he will take what he learned from game 2 and transfer something to game 3?
- Oneonta Penguin

Well...game 1 was a tad bit different. We played GOOD ENOUGH to win game 1. If it wasn't for a few posts, we very well could have.

Now game 2, we just played god awful. No adjustments whatsoever. Someone better have stood up in the locker room and got this team fired up. I haven't hit the panic button yet. If we win game 3, we are right back in this series.

In a perfect world, I'd trade him for Eberle and a second rounder. That said, Jordan is coming up for a big contract. He doesn't help with the cap. You would be spending close to the same money soon with Eberle as you will be with Letang.

Eberle and Hall signed extensions last season. The new contracts starts this season, he is making the same as James Neal now of the next 6 years.

OK, then Eberle and a second. I wasn't aware of that.

However, unless we have this confidence in Hartzell being the goalie of the future, if we trade Letang, maybe it should be for a goalie..

They're signed for $6 mil per season, and Neal is at $ mil per season.

Neal really doesn't impress me so far in these playoffs. He had like, 2 very good games. That's it.

Problem with trading Letang, no matter how bad he is, he's still the Pens best Dman. Orpik is old, Nisk sucks, Murray is a pilon, England is avg, Eaton is old, and Martin is decent. Moving Letang just makes your D that much worse. Bylsma hates Despress, other than that your options are unproven rookies.

sens have 20 mil in cap space, and nobody of significance (in dollar terms) to resign

they're okay for money

- sensarmy_11

But they have only 9 players under contract for 2014-2015.

Better spend wisely this summer.

Letang has been playing like an unproven rookie with good skill for a long time now.

Yeah, if Letang is moved this off season, they need to bring in a proven top 4 NHL defensemen. Letang leads the team in ice time even strength and on the PP for a defensemen, and his PK time is right up there.

You can easily replace him with Martin on the PP. That isn't a problem

Apples an oranges though... MacLean had the Sens as a team focused on defense. They played just as strong with Anderson out.

The Penguins on the other hand, have historically left their goalies hung out to dry at times. Seeing how Anderson played in the Pens series with lapses in defensive coverage, that makes me doubt that he's a great solution for the Pens.

His clears up the middle of the ice are wearing thin on me. For every spectacular play he makes he offsets it wih 2 dumb ones.

Also someone get Niskanen in the gym so he can get strong enough to shoot a puck around the boards and actually get it to the blueline. Our defense has been disgraceful both defending and starting breakouts.

No I totaly get it, the issue is everyone says Letang for Eberle. Well thats nice but the D still sucks. Same problem. Not sure how RS says hey Letang really sucks for us, so we'll trade you him for a solid top Dman on your team. Oh btw he'll be a ufa and command about 6-7 mil.

His mistakes aren't tolerated at the level I coach at, let alone the ECF.

Pens could pull off a trade similar to when the blues traded Johnson for shattenkirk and Stewart. Pens could easily get a top 4 defenseman and a top 6 forward for Letang.

The PP isn't the problem, but he eats up a lot of even strength minutes, and overall plays relatively well defensively. Despres can fill a top 4 role I think, but with Letang gone, there is still a big hole in the top 4. Eaton isn't back, and Niskanen and Murray (even if he is back) aren't top 4 d-men.

Take out Letang, and you are left with Martin, a declining Orpik, a somewhat unproven Despres, and then a big question mark as your the top 4... playing in front of a big question mark in goal.

The Letang situation sort of reminds me of Dion Phaneuf in Toronto, everyone wants him gone, but the vacuum of minutes that he would leave, causes a trickle down effect that will hurt.

That being said, I don't want to sign Letang for $6-$7 million.

Shero will earn his salary this summer.

This is the second consecutive play-off year that Letang has looked terrible defensively. Sure, he has put up numbers offensively, but his gaffes have been costly. Hell, he himself allowed three Flyer goals last year - at least. He is just as culpable to our horrid defensive effort as Fleury as far as I'm concerned. The only difference, Letang can make up for it offensively. Add in the fact he has missed several games the last two years due to various injuries, he is starting to be a bit fragile in a way.

We are going to have major changes on the blueline in the next two years. The only player signed in that span is Martin. The rest are either UFas or RFAs. So, settle for a young defense one year and let them grow.
