I hate how "Bostons Tough", so we go and put in our "Tough Guys" - Way to play their game....

"Bostons Tough" - We should up the skill ante and play to our strength

Put guys like Bennett and Despres in

It's really not Boston, it's pitt

Boston deserves credit, but the Pens are not interested in making ANY sound decisions.

Love to hear what Marchand said to Cooke after that last goal.

That was pretty brutal. I know something had to be done but I wouldn't put any of those goals on Vokoun.
- Cptmjl

None of those goals were on Vokoun. Maybe one all series - maybe has been on him. The rest were gifts by our defense.

Cant keep saying that. Bruins deserve credit. Do you see us cycling in their zone? I think that's a credit to their team game. We get a quick rush and its back the other way.

I don't give a team credit for this poop. Sorry. Defensively, yes. Offensively? LOL. Like I said our AHL team would have three on the Pens right now. Lousy effort with no sense of urgency. Everything has been gift wrapped and not earned.

So far, so not good. I think the week off lost us our mojo and we came out playing like idiots tonight. We lost a game the other night 3-0 but the score didn't say how close I think the game really was. To come out playing like this/////

- thickman1178

When Crosby and Malkin get shut down, they fall apart, and the team follows them. Iffy goaltending doesn't help. Happened last year against the Flyers, but Bruins are much better defensively and have consistent goaltending. I'd be surprised if Pens won a game in this series.

It's both. You can't take away Boston's defensive game (1 goal in the last 130 minutes) and they're opportunistic. But Pittsburgh has been pretty damn awful. They're getting outworked down low on both ends. Making low percentage plays (Kunitz trying to pass to Crosby who's covered when he has an open lane to the net) and really...I'm seeing a lot of Flyers-Pens from last year's playoffs right now. They're off their game, running around like some pee wee team. Actually, I don't want to insult pee wee teams, they at least usually do what the coach asks them. It's time for Captain Sid to get the team going. Iginla needs to act like he actually wants this. Malkin needs to...something. Those 3 need to be big, and they're been invisible.

Oh, and MAF f-ing blows.

I think we need a bit of toughness, but when I saw we out hit Boston, it told me 2 things. They had the puck on their sticks more, so we had no choice but to hit them, and we weren't playing our game.

It's looking a little thin. Boston is just capitalizing on every miscue.

The pens are getting sucked in the bruins game.

i know right. i forgot boston was notorious for convincing the other team's goalie to let in a shot flicked in from like 30 feet out. just like they drew it up im sure

Pittsburgh needs to stop trying to run the Bruins over and play their game. The way you beat the Bruins is to play your game despite their attempts to intimidate. If you don't show intimidation, Boston gets of their game.

this seems like a different pens team then ottawa played against.

it seemed like in the last series, when ottawa tried to play physical, pens just let it go, and skated around them.

in this series, it seems like the pens are trying to instigate the physical stuff all the time, and forgetting that they're actually a much more skilled team.

i haven't seen many pens games, not involving ottawa, do the pens normally try to be this physical.

it seems like they're playing right into boston's game plan. not sure if it's their emotions getting the best of them, or perhaps it's a coaching strategy.

just curious.

Im not saying we aren't making it easy. If we had pucks squeaking across the goal line and were hitting posts like the other night, sure. But not only are we gift wrapping their goals, but we cant get anything going offensively. And that's because the Bruins are playing good D.

eh. i dont view this as a systematic failure. the players are just poopting all over themselves. i guess the best thing he could do would be to repeatedly hit letang in the head with a wrench, or at least tell him hes playing wing or not at all
- stayinthefnnet

You think torts is gonna sit there with his arms folded when his defense is playing like that.

They do. They are a perfectly built playoff team IMO. I think Rask may have been a question mark but he's answering that.

So all 4 goals for boston and the fact the pens scored only once in 4 periods are because of Fleury?

yeah, except that boston actually knows how to play in their own end.

if pitt doesn't forget about the physical crap, and start trying to make this series about skill, i don't think it's gonna last long.

bostons playing great d. i wont take that away from them. they are clogging up lanes, blocking shots, and severely outworking them. however, the defense is once again laughable. and that goal right there may have helped to really push fleury out the door
