no I agree with you
this team is too white collared. in 2009 this team was a blue collared and hard working team. today, they are an entitled and spoiled organization.
if this team loses, I expect big changes. yet shero can deal and sign and do whatever he wants.
the fact is, these results wont change until there is a new coach. it's just a fact. - SuperHenderson13
Insanity is the continuation of the same thing over and over again while expecting a different result.
I expect you guys to make changes, regardless of winning the cup this year or NOT
, as you need a more sound foundations in goal and in your defensive zone.
So, as much as I would love another blue collar true hockey fan in the bruins camp, I'm quite confident that your GM makes some changes in those two areas, OR I AGREE HE NEEDS TO GO.
It's a recurring theme with the pens and the caps in particular and the pens do better than the caps in the playoffs because they have sooooo much more talent. |

I love talking about systems because there are so many that can fit a team... sadly, our coach just happens to be one that has a system that no team could succeed with. |

Who? If that is any hint. haha
Yeah, I don't come around here much anymore. If the Pens have one bad shift = trade everyone and grab the nearest sharp object. Tho yesterday was dismal they are still in it and able to win this series. - kgrpitt

Glad someone found humor in it. It's sad because its the only adjustment he makes.

It was a good hook up for a while but fossil only has so many decent watches. haha
Hoping to see an actual hockey team step onto the ice tonight. The Pens haven't even made the Bruins break a sweat yet. |

Definitely. Last game was a big blow to the whole team. Can we expect a win tonight?I want to believe it but at the same time don't want to look dumb cheering for a heartless bunch. |

our plan is puck possession. Bylsma's view is that the best defense is possessing the puck in the offensive zone.
it's a great thought, and whenever it works, it works well. the problem is when it doesn't work. it doesn't work against skilled and well coached teams like Boston. When we lose, we typically lose by multiple goals. It's because once a team figures us out, there is no stopping them because of how awful we are defensively because we have no real defensive zone coverage.
give boston credit, they took the penguins system and crushed them. they sit in the neutral zone. have a forward or two forecheck, and then intercept an outlet pass and get chances.
if Pittsburgh doesn't change, this series will be over in 4. if they do change, then we might have a series. - SuperHenderson13
This is what I don't get... a puck possession game plan is great, and has been successfully used by the Red Wings for like 15 years. The problem with the Penguins is that if they can't maintain possession and turn the puck over (forced and unforced), they don't seem to have a solid plan on defensive coverage.
The odd man rushes are what they are... if you are careless with the puck, then those happen no matter how good your game plan is. But when opponents have sustained pressure in the Pens end, they seem to have no structure in how they defend, and randomly run around. It's even stranger seeing how disciplined that they are in the PK. Why can't they stay discipline in their defensive coverage 5 on 5?

I will be cheering no matter what. However, I will not have the same hopes as I usually do if they have the same amount of compete as they have previously in this series. First 10 minutes we will know which team came to play. |

As for tonight, Japandroids will be a welcomed break from hockey on TV. I think I'm also going to miss the game Sunday if that's when they play...If they're still playing. At this rate I might only see 1 game this series. |

So true... tonight we could see the team that rebounds from a rock bottom game and goes on a tear (like they've done a few times this season), or a team that continues to self destruct. We should no early.
Pens scoring first will help, but if the Bruins score, I am really interested to see the reaction/response from the Pens. |

I think the difference is the Red Wings don't try to possess the puck at all costs. The Red Wings always have a 3rd forward high ready to defend. The Pens usually have all three forwards buzzing around the net while a couple of our dmen frequently make poor choices by pinching at the wrong time.
As far as our 5v5 defense, what I see is the team is never ready to defend. They've put so much effort into trying to score that they get back late and the forwards and D have trouble knowing who has who.
I think it's easily solvable, but it requires a little more conservative approach. The players need to know that they can win a game by defending as well as scoring.

Definitely. Even if we come out a bit sloppy but somehow we get the first goal I think that will get us out of the funk. That is, if we don't allow them to score 30 seconds later. |

UPSET takes on a whole new double entendre meaning in this series! Soooooo angry during a conference finals appearance, people, you need to take a step back and realize how happy you should be your team's gotten this far.
You can be mad at me all you want and claim I'm a moron, but I see this as karma for all the people on this thread who have been complete Richards for the last two rounds. |
