My response from the same blog ...

This is Letang's second consecutive lousy play-off season. He alone gave up three or four goals to the Flyers on major gaffes. He is just as culpable to the lousy defensive effort than MAF. The only difference, he can do something offensively. If someone want to give us a first round pick and a very good player on his entry level contract - maybe even a young goalie of the future, you send him packing. Hell, I will take him to the airport myself.

This one is an easy answer - its Vokoun.

MAF gave up two very soft goals last night.

im glad im not the only one who is starting to seriously question whether moving letang would be as horrible as once thought. however, im not anywhere near the panic button of moving malkin, regardless of this series. im all for having a reassessment of the entire team in the offseason, but right now i just cant see ridding ourselves of malkin as justifiable

Better solution, disband the Sabres.

This is one of the reasons I was considering becoming a Quebec Nordiques fan. They havent lost a game in almost 20 years.

Haha, I actually wish the Buffalo Bills would leave sometimes for that very reason. One giant disappointment then its over with instead of disappointment and embarrassment year in and year out

We bit your head off because we were pretty sure this team would show up and play. It hasn't. If Pittsburgh shows up at all, this series is longer than five. It's not rocket science here.
- Oneonta Penguin

This is your team. Cant play defense. What you beat the Islanders with 1 and a half lines of scoring and hardly any defense? And making all Pens fans stressed after 4 games. Then, you square off against a depleted Ottawa team whose #1 defensemen is still hurt, an aging Captain and basically without their #1 center. Which also, thatteam couldn't play good team defense and put pressure on you.

Now you face the Bruins who have unbelievable forwards to counter your forward when it comes to back checking. Plus they get in on your defense to put pressure on with a physical defense. I told everyone a week ago they are gonna put Chara on Malkin which the basically have done and you havent heard a peep out of him. And the Bergeron Line was gonna match up against Sidney and give him fits, which they have in more ways then one. No way IMO Pens come back in this series. They make make it interesting but when the only player from you team who shows up in the first 2 games is Brandon Sutter then theres gonna be a problem.

I would stick with Vokoun, these losses have not been his fault. They need to clean up the defensive zone coverage. Happy about the Bruins winning but zero chance I would count the Penguins out, but Pens are going to have to make some gameplan changes going into game 3. Looked like they felt game 1 was a fluke and if they played the same way again they would have no issues, but the defensive zone coverage has too be better even if it means sacrificing some transition offense.

Please update me on Giroux's, Hartnell's and Simmond's golf scores for the last month. Have they improved?
- Oneonta Penguin

Absolutely they've improved. They had the extra month of practice that they didn't have last year after beating the Penguins.

If Pittsburgh showed any heart, any ounce of adjustments, any urgency, this series at worst would be 1-1. It's not rocket science here chief. This is more a byproduct of the Pittsburgh than it is Boston. I give Boston tons of credit defensively, but won't give them one iota offensively based on the way the goals have been scored.

reason rask looks so good is the same way crawford looks like a beast, its the way their teams play infront of them, pitt on the other hand everyone knew coming into the playoffs they have horrible D, you got letang skating around thinking he is a winger when crosby has him covered on the point, idiots, then we all know how there goaltending is, refer back to flyers series, you can also put blame on bylsma, you have all that talent but they are crumbling, do your job as a coach and get a plan going, way too much talent there and they crap the bed, they look like a bunch of chickens with their heads cut off

haha i dont think the flyers would be fairing any better in this instance. for all the female doging back and forth at each other, the pens and flyers are ridiculously similar in roster makeup, wussy attitude, and lackadaisical defense.

actually i guess its slightly less upsetting when you have a guy who actually is bruno gervais play like bruno gervais, instead of having an all world talent like letang play as though he is gervais

UMMM ... of the six goals Vokoun has surrendered in this series - how many of them is on him? ZERO. Fleury's two or three gift goals depending on how you perceive them had zero meaning toward last nights game. Goaltending is hardly the issue.

Bylsma deserves every bit of blame in this series.

Except Pittsburgh has two of the top three players in the NHL and Philly doesn't have one. You are right on key though. Philly wouldn't have made it out of the first round against the Islanders, even if they made the play-offs. Alot of talk coming from the fan base of a franchise that didn't qualify.

I understand that some of the goals have been the result of defensive breakdowns, but the Bruins still have to put the puck in the net. Really, you could probably make the case that any goal which is ever scored in this league is the result of some sort of breakdown.

Meh. I'd wager most of us that frequent this site would be following the playoffs with or without the Pens involvement.

true. but the fact that we have those guns makes getting blown out of the water all the more sickening. i can deal with losses in which you put forth a good effort and you just get beaten. i realize you and i are leading the charge saying that this is more pittsburgh than boston, and i still stand by that. however, just because boston hasnt exactly needed to dig deep, doesnt mean they cant. fact is they just havent had to. why would they when it can just be a practice day in the offensive end for them?

really stating the obvious here, but if theyre still down 0 2 but the games reflect hard fought competition and losing to a quality group of proven winners, id at least have respect for the pens. but right now, this team deserves none of it. the lack of drive and heart from guys that are supposed to have it in spades, be it the team foundation like crosby or malkin, or the guys that should have the hunger like iginla, is just both appalling and befuddling.
