I actually feel bad for Fleury, seems like a decent guy and just appears shell-shocked. Letang's struggles make me happy, though - MadCap2008
Both seem like solid people, they are just playing bad hockey with a lot of people watching them right now. |

I would say that Vokoun has not been the problem and that most of the goals he has given up would have required a miraculous save. Here's the dilemma for the Pens, though - the guy who can make that miraculous save that they often need due to their style of play is Fleury, but at the moment his confidence appears to be shot. - MadCap2008
This is a no brainer. You go with the guy who gives you the best chance to win. It's easily Vokoun. Last night Fleury had a chance to redeem himself. Even if we lost 3-1 and he held down the fort, made great saves, he would have earned it. That said, that ridiculous fourth goal he allowed, one that a bantam goalie stops, sucked any life out of the team, if they had any.
Screw putting in the guy that can get you the miraculous save, when he has the uncanny ability to let in three leaky goals in the same game. |

boston is a hell of a team. but then again, so are the pens. neither team should be running totally amok over the other barring a total lapse by the other side. if the pens were winning games 6 to 1 over the bruins, it would likely be due to some major flaw of their own doing. this isnt against ottawa, where the talent disparity is so great that one side can run away with simply of their own accord. - stayinthefnnet
Great response.

To clarify, I wasn't questioning who should be in net, it has to be Vokoun with as fragile as Fleury appears at the moment. I was just pointing out that the Pens, if they want to play their style, need a goalie like Fleury who is physically capable of bailing them out when they inevitably give up odd-man breaks or leave a guy open in front of the net. It will be interesting to see if the Pens get a lead in Game 3 if they go into shut-down mode. |

Gotcha. You are right, but ...
Pittsburgh can't go into shutdown mode if they get the lead on Boston. We did with Ottawa once and lost. Boston is better than Ottawa by a country mile. |

Lurking through the posts, sounds eerily similar to a certain west coast Canadian team's fanbase a few years ago. - Double_A
The problem is that we aren't seeing the best from the Penguins right now. The Penguins beat the Bruins 3 times this season without Malkin even in the lineup.
Right now the Bruins are rolling there is not question of that. But the Penguins are barely putting up a fight.
Cooke has been our best player in this series and he's played 1.5 games. |

First, I totally disagreed with Shero acquiring Iginla. He has shown me nothing. As far as your last comment, from my vantage point, its very easy to separate one from the other in this instance. Boston can't play any better and Pittsburgh can't play any worse. When a team gives the opposition eight goals in two games handed to them, I'd say they are to blame moreso than the opposition. Agree to disagree. I personally don't care what you think to be honest. You are a Flyers fan. - Oneonta Penguin
The Pens might come back and win this series and the Cup and this will all be moot. I thought the acquisition of Iginla was solid and was actually pissed at the time that they were able to pull it off. I did think it was risky to add so many new guys to the lineup, though I suppose they weren't certain about Crosby's return at that point and possibly figured they could still make a Cup run without him if they added these pieces. I wonder in retrospect if Crosby had not taken the puck to the face which of these acquisitions might not have occurred (probably Jokinen at least). |

Crosby broke his jaw in Iginla's first game, I believe. |

When Sid took the puck to the jaw, that was Iggy's first game. Murray and Morrow had already played. Jokinen might not have been acquired.

Or you'll do what?
You came here to kick the Pens and the fans in this forum when they were down, and have the temerity to get offended when someone bites your head off? . - Emperor Filonius
We can talk to Flyers fans anyway we want to. Because this is our space, not theirs. It's pretty simple.

So we should expect the Pens to lose 4 games to 1 in the SCF ? |

I think that was the game they clinched the president's trophy (don't worry, we're all a bit off our game here today) |

On a positive note, you guys are going to love that President's Trophy banner (or do only organizations which have never won a Cup bother to hang those banners ). |

I think we are all pretty cool to people who drop by on a regular basis and are respectful, which is as it should be. But I don't have much stomach or patience for people who we never otherwise see here that show up from other forums when the Pens are struggling just to enjoy the schadenfreude and troll. |

Nope, we have one as well from 1993, but won't have one of those this year either...that coveted Presidents Trophy was all a figment of my sleep deprived imagination. |

Ours looks great next to the Washington Mystics "WNBA Attendance Champions" banners Actually, Ted finally had the sense to remove those (but they really did exist at one time). It does give you some perspective of how starved we are for a winner of any sort here in DC sports. |

But you are given more leeway when defending your turf. Bernie hasn't said anything too bad, he's just a little sensitive. |

I always thought those were the most bizarre banners to have hanging from the rafters. I noticed they were gone when I went to a game there last year. |
