Absolutely not, just happy we are not the team paying him. I also have a hard time seein him getting 6 or even 5+. He may but i just can't see it. That's a legit 2 way Dman salary which Streit is not. I guess anything is possible during FA? I wish him the best and I'm happy we are not that team - Cptmjl
Ohh without question, I dont think he's worth 3 a year.
He should have been moved... everyone knew he wasn't resigning.

Tim Thomas wants to play next year so we have that POS to deal with, as he owes us one year. - habs&islesfan
no he doesnt

You think Anders Lee starts off in BP next year? - Vukota
I could be wrong here, and someone please correct me if I am...but I thought Lee could only play for the Isles and not Bridgeport per his contract terms. |

@reporterchris Visors will be grandfathered for next season in NHL
Thank god - eichiefs9
Wouldn't the NHLPA have to agree to that?
Cant see them doing that without getting something.

So they create more room below the goal line behind the net. - eichiefs9
They need to make the nets bigger. Sorry Marty Brouduer these goalies are not 5'9 anymore. |

That is true but if you're of the school that JT needs a big winger then he wasn't the guy. Especially at that $ amount and term. |

Id like a bigger winger, but PAP worked, the line worked, the line was getting better and better... it could have gelled for another season... PAP could have been kept until that better option was brought in..IF it is ever brought in. PAP showed he could play on the second line as well & its a pretty good guess that he would have been magical on Strome's wing (if/when we get that power forward)

He seemed on the ball with JT's deal. - ses111
JT is the best bargain in the NHL for his skill level. If I were his agent, I would not have let him sign to that amount. And it would have been easy to get more.

The Isles lose 8.1 million in salary with Streit (4.1) and Boyes (4.0) gone.
They add 10.08 with Strome, Nino, Nelson, Lee and Donovan.
Net gain is 1.98 million.
If they replace Streit, Boyes, Aucoin (.65), Joensuu (.60) and Reasoner (1.4)
(All UFA players) that would be a NET LOSS of .67 million.
Art Staple needs to do a little homework before he talks nonsense.
After all, if you add 5 players you need to lose 5 players...... - Downeaster
Boyes only made $1mil

No we don't. The isles will not toll his contract and he can sign with anybody. Plus the isles would lose a 2nd rd pick if they keep him. No thanks - Vukota
It's too late to toll his contract. He's a UFA on July 1. Think we have to re-sign him to lose 2nd round pick. Not sure if that applies once he's on the open market. |

Six points in his final 18 games suggested his second line production wasn't going to be that great. He's a fine player but we can, and will, do better for $16 million.

I think that was his point? Saying even if he had them it'd be an improvement? - Cptmjl
Yes, it was. And it's really only when he's trying to deek the goalie in close. He scored a few nice goals from 12-15 feet out. He should stop going all the way to the crease before shooting. |

Thomas is a UFA on July 1st. His "trade" to the Isles was solely to reach the cap floor.
We won't bid high enough to have him sign, I doubt. |

Nielsen deserves the A over ANY Islanders right now in my opinion. This guy is so under valued . - Danformo
Fransy goes invisible for stretches. He's 0 for the last 5-6 shootout attempts. He no longer uses the backhand shot that made him the best shootout player in NHL. Go figure. Maybe he needs some coaching...oh wait... |

If any of you gentlemen (and ladies, of course) want to head over to the Leafs thread, we are currently debating whether or not we could pry Strome from the Isles in return for taking Ricky DiP off of Mr. Wang's wallet. Numerous other scenarios have been discussed (yes, we know the pot needs to be sweetened. At least most of us realize that).
It would be interesting to get the NYI perspective on the "debate."
