Six points in his final 18 games suggested his second line production wasn't going to be that great. He's a fine player but we can, and will, do better for $16 million.

We MAY, but we HAVEN'T yet.
Always a "maybe" or "potentially" with this team... PAP was getting it done.

*2pm: Per Newsday, the 3 year deal that was offered was at $4.75 mil per. He seems to want a bit more. Just a thought, but without Streit on the team, I'm thinking Nino becomes a little bit more 'tradeable.'
how the hell is this connected? Absolutely 100% a steaming pile of crap comment that has no accuracy nor is either situation remotely connected.

I'm willing to take our chances that both Strome or Nino will be a better fit. Remember, PA was demoted from the top line when things weren't working out. He didn't even wait for the Isles response after Sakic called him. He should have been traded, NOT resigned.

we gave him a shot but he seemed like a career minor leaguer. props to you guys for giving him a legitimate shot though and playing him on tavares' wing since you guys had no other depth to really let him shine. - rangerdanger94

I agree. I always knew he was a douche but I didn't realize how good of a player he is as well until this years playoffs - Vukota

Here we go. Good for him I'm glad we didn't sign him for that much. |

It's a valid argument but we've been down this road before. You can write your first blog about it when we start taking shifts, save the energy |

Yep. I would have been fine if he stuck around at a reasonable price (comparable to Moulson's contract) but 4 years @$16mil was too much. He was a nice forward for a team out of the playoffs, but precisely the type of player we needed to upgrade to take the next step. At the time of the deadline, I think Snow really thought they could work it out, but then Colorado came along with a huge offer.

coulda, woulda, shoulda as the deadline approached he wasnt resigned, Snow should have been taking offers for the guy & sending him out for the best return, no matter what it was. Same with our ex-capt

Snow was taking offers for PA but wanted too much. That said, it was a completely different set of circumstances from Streit. Streit was the captain of a team fighting for a playoff spot. I said early on we should trade him but wasn't angry that we didn't.

Where are you going to put all these players. Strome and lee need one year on the bridge - 2raven2
Strome does not need a year at the Bridge any more than JT did.

Fransy goes invisible for stretches. He's 0 for the last 5-6 shootout attempts. He no longer uses the backhand shot that made him the best shootout player in NHL. Go figure. Maybe he needs some coaching...oh wait... - jmo16
Many may disagree but I think Frans is not mentally or physically tough. I just do not get the Frans love many Isles fan have. I'll take Casey any day of the week. |

because he was signed last year as well... nothing has changed... The same amount of goalies that were up (2) and the same amount of goalies that were down (3).. so why if its EXACTLY the same as last year.. does that equate DP as being done? its read status quo to me.
XxNYIxX - XxNYIxX
Because he was signed to play at Bridgeport as far as I know which means there would be a one too many... |

It's going to have to be as I doubt Frans is going anywhere. He is just one of my least favorite Islanders. |

the worst part about PA is his on ice attitude. He took a lot of dumb penalties and opponents easily would get in his head causing him to be "tough" and missing defensive plays. Great player. but we need more rounded players with a different style to play with JT |

What we need and what we got so far are two different things. Hopefully that changes this season? |
