i didnt think the 4th line should have been messed with during the season...i think now during the offseason, im at least ok with the possibility of taking CC off the 4th to the 3rd and slotting nelson in there gives nelson, MM and CM the time to learn each other.
i also am not sure if you are underestimating cizikas offense or overestimating what nelson will be for the team...look at caseys numbers leading up to being on the isles, the kid can put the puck in the net...ive been saying it since the day he came up, he reminds me of a ryan callahan and now that ive seen more of him i think he is a brad marchand type as well.. - LetsGoIsles
I don't think I'm underestimating or overestimating either. I think Nelson is better suited for the third line then cizikas when he's ready of course and who knows if that's this season? |

In theory, when he's absolutely 'ready', Nelson should be a second line center while Cizikas is cut out to be the perfect defensive pest third line center. I think Cizikas is already there in most regards, whereas Nelson will need time. Of course that's assuming he doesn't permnently become a winger. Either Strome or Nelson will likely have to become a winger. Based on what happened at Bridgeport, it looks like that will be Strome on the wing.

I don't think we have seen enough of strome to determine where he should play especially when we see how his game translates to the NHL. In a perfect world Nielsen will be the odd man out in a year or two but that's if they both pan out as centers. Either way it looks like we are looking pretty good down the middle, that's something we should all be able to agree on. |

btw... Brad Boyes fate seemed sealed by disappearing in playoffs. #isles look for character/players to step up, not disappear.

I don't understand how you don't acquire Luongo this summer.
A nice 5.3 cap hit for a team that needs to be over the floor anyway and Vancouver is at the point where you literally are probably getting a draft pick with him just for taking the contract.
You were a tough team to beat with Nabokov and Lou will have no pressure and will be much steadier then Nab. I'm calling lou to the Isles at the draft.

Not according to Vancouver fans. Some said Nino+ DP and some others said both Nino and Strome + DP for Luongo plus you get 3 decent years and then you got 7 years on a doozey of a bad contract. We already have one of those. What about you guys? Do you think Reimer is the answer in goal? |

Pretty simple, actually. You just don't pick up the phone when calls come in from Vancouver asking for Nino, Strome or other outlandish returns.

That's all bullpoop. Vancouver needs Luongo gone, and gone as soon as possible, they have zero capspace and still need 6 forwards to put a team on the ice. If Luongo retires, Vancouver is still stuck with part of the contract as well. According to capgeek, if he was to retire in 2018, so 5 more seasons. Van would hold 1.85 and you would hold 1.725 for the last 4 dead years of the contract. That's not so bad considering you're getting a really good goalie for virtually nothing.
Reimer is still a question mark but he's also only 25. He was a 99th overall pick in 2006 that's been homegrown through our organization. I compare him to Jimmy Howard. Noone thought Howard was for real but he's turned out to be a pretty good keeper, if we let him play there's no reason why he can't be the guy and for a pretty decently cheap contract. He's making 1.8 this year, then he's an RFA so it really comes down to what he does in a full 82 game sked next year. |

Oh I hear you but if Gillis is expecting any return its not coming from us even with the Dp scenario. |

Gillis is a f-uckin idiot, he's not getting s-hit unless it's a severance package, he blew it. He'll be lucky to get a pack of wine gums for lou now. |

It's not so nice when he's 42 and hanging around. Forget that. We have no need for a contract that expires near rapture. Unless they did a straight up DP for Lou trade, I want nothing to do with it.
