Moot point he will never be traded. - eichiefs9
I'm not saying I think he WILL be traded. However I figured it was worth a daydreamers debate.
That said, with a team that has as much salary as Pittsburgh does, nothing should be considered impossible. Malkin will command around $10 mil per season, which is a pretty big challenge for a team already up against the cap.
One thing I can guarantee, if he ever were traded, it wouldn't be to a division opponent such as ourselves.

Isles are not Opening the wallet for a Foward and totally agree with Garth on that. If we spend money it will be on Dman or Goalie.
Streit got offered even money and contract to Viz and turned down. We all agree here, Viz is better.
Let me get you guys prepared from now. Boyes is resigning. I dont see how you think he terrible. He outplayed Moulson in playoffs and in the last 20 games of season. Do you guys want to get rid of MOULSON as well. b/c if you say yes, then i totally dont have any problem with not signing moulson. Both Benefit from Tavares bigtime.
If you ask me, without Tavares, Moulson wouldnt get 15 goals on a full season. - Spartiarti
I don't think either played particularly well through the season or in the playoffs, to be honest...but Moulson had 2 goals and 3 points in the playoffs while Boyes had no goals and 3 points, so I'm not seeing an overwhelming difference in how either one played.
Moulson is signed for next year and is a three-time 30-goal scorer, second highest point getter on the team for three years running, and has a close relationship with the team's franchise player. Boyes is none of those things.
So while we can argue over which one should be there and which one shouldn't, what is painfully obvious is that both can't be there on Tavares' wings come next season. There can only be one pilot fish getting fat off the work the shark is doing if that line is going to be effective. And given a choice between the two, the plain fact is it's easier to let Boyes walk with his demands for a raise that he thinks he's earned. Moulson doesn't need to be signed, he already is.

I'll take MM's 15 without JT
to the
less then 15 Boyes scores without JT.
Hell!! It's not even a given Boyes would have scored 15 with JT in a full 82 game season.

I'd think Hamonic and Strome would be a must just to get the conversation started. Best prospect and a good young d-man that specializes in an area where they really need help...in their own zone. Then you'd still have to add the first rounder and probably a good forward already on the roster...Grabner or KO. It'd be a hefty price.

Honestly, I think the price would be shockingly low, because it would be salary motivated. So whatever came back for Malkin, would have to be generally low in total salary. I'd bet that Strome, Reinhart and two 1st rounders would be in the ball park. But again, they wouldn't trade him here. He'd end up somewhere like Detroit.

Haha no. He at least showed up a few (key word FEW) times during the regular season. Other then that I thought it was just Tavares and Moulson out there. - The Iceman
While Moulson had a down year he still averaged what would have been a 30 goal season. Much rather him than Boyes |

I don't even think he was on pace to score 15 goals if this season was a full 82 game schedule. He had 8 or 9 through 48 games, and I don't recall him scoring a goal in the 6 games against pitt. So in total 54 games and less then 10 goals for a 1st liner is just terrible. |

Moulson at least goes to the net. And if it was going to be a full 82 game season, Moulson would've been on pace for about 29 goals and around 60 points. |

It wasn't anger I was trying to help them by making them realize that they'd regret not getting laid through high school later on in life. |
