I would say you'd have to consider Okposo for an A after the PO's? Hamonic yeah, Nielsen maybe? Vis? I don't get? - Cptmjl
Okposo already wears an A..your going to take it away from him now? |

Yep. We all saw this happening with the kids coming up, I have no problem with it as long as these kids are ready for prime time and DP never flops around on Coliseum ice again. In fact I'm excited about it. If he gets a good stay at home Dman I'm cool. The one thing I'm worried about is Capuano honestly and how he coaches these kids. That's my main concern. - Cptmjl
I'm going to take a leap of faith on Cappy and say he'll grow into the position more just like the kids grow into their roles. He'll learn from his mistakes and be a better coach through time. Obviously there's no comparision but I'm willing to bet Arbour was a far better coach in 1984 than he was when he took over St Louis in 1970. They gotta crawl before they can walk

Well since you guys now need a veteran defender, take liles for a 7th rounder, plus you will be paying him less than what you were offering streit - Mapleleafs_91

That doesn't sound like much fun. I think i would rather watch last nights game on a continuous loop with Fran Drescher doing the play by play than do that. - canadianpenfan
A friend of mine had his GPS with a Fran Drescher voice simulator...I wanted to shoot it. His Darth Vader was much better.

While I agree, it would be nice to get rid of him once and for all - Vukota
I'd love to see him gone but at what cost? Something is brewing with him with that recent goalie signing unless Snow plans on doing the three headed monster routine again which i don't see happening? He'll keep one of Poulin or Nilsson up with Nabby which could mean a possible buyout for DP and thatcap hit maybe invested on a strong stay at home type? Wishful thinking I know but who knows? That's why I keep saying this is a big offseason for Snow and it's going to show a lot of who he is as a GM. I'm not expecting any big trades or signings but this in house stuff is going to define us as a team for a while, especially the DP mess. |

Tidbits from staples article
Streit, 35, had spoken of wanting to return as the 2013 season wound down, but he and the Islanders are far apart in contract requirements with the July 5 start of free agency looming. The Islanders are believed to have made a three-year offer for the same $4.75 million per season that Lubomir Visnovsky accepted on the eve of the trade deadline (Visnovsky's deal is for two years), but Streit is looking for north of $5.5 million per season.
With the free agent market for defensemen very thin, Streit could command $6 million per year and even possibly get a four-year deal. The Islanders wanted Streit back to keep the continuity Garth Snow has built, but the Isles GM is also not interested in busting his salary structure to keep Streit.
Is he facking kidding me?? How could he ask for that with a straight face? - Vukota
No I am really hoping he signs with a division rival!

Wow. He's out of his mind. Let some other team overpay for him. I'm actually pissed we offered that much? Thank God he turned it down |

Let's work on getting the guy some real ice time first!

Grabs needs to work on finishing. He'd be. 70 point player if he had the hands of Ken Baumgartner. |

I know teams overpay come FA but 6 million?!?!?! He's out of his (frank)ing mind. I have a hard time believing another team would give him that. Thank God he turned down 4.75 per for 3 years. I would've shat my pants if we signed him to that deal. I can't even see him getting that via free agency? Good riddance. Phew that was a close one. Dodged a bullet as far as I'm concerned. |

He can finish just fine...just not on breakaways. His wrist shot was lethal though, and his shooting percentage was actually second highest among all forwards on the team behind only Tavares (OK, technically behind Lee as well...but he had one goal on two shots...). Third on the team in shots taken, too, so it's not like the number was inflated by having some goals on only a few shots. He shoots a lot and scores on those shots at a pretty good clip.

Streit and his agent are looney tunes. The Isles were crazy to even offer three years. The guy does not put up Paul Coffey numbers to make up for his D. |

I'm ok with it as well I just do not want Nabby playing most of the games and no playoffs if the team makes it. |

Yep...from 10 feet out and beyond, he has a nice shot. The end result is the guy is a 30+ goal scorer who is also amongst one of the best penalty killers in the league. Personally, I'd extend his contract asap...
