The Pens are a completely different team when they don't have Letang in the lineup. He brings so much to the team. However, I do think they trade him or let him walk. - stveshdy
And there is a reason for that, and it's not just money. Defensively speaking he's pretty meh. Offensively though he's up there with the best. |

Took the Bruins nano-seconds to replace Thomas. Rask has been every bit as good if not better. |

Crosby held pointless in 82+ minutes of ice time in this series. That tells the story. |

Some Pens fans wanted a hooking call on Jagr there at the end...guess they weren't happy with just 1 pp opportunity in OT. |

No doubt. Bruins are smothering him and Malkin. |

This is true...the man is definitely pulling a wagon behind him, but he still gets it done. - wolfhounds
He's so freaking good at protecting the puck with his body and stick handling that he doesn't have to be fast...one of those guys who can "slow the game down" (in a good way)... |

I seriously could see them shopping him this offseason. Guy has become absolutely invisible against good teams in the playoffs. That is unless he decides to run somebody out of frustration.
Malkin for a top five pick in this draft plus a top 6 forward or top 4 D man, in addition to freeing up a bunch of cap room for them.
Let's hope they keep him. |

I don't know, in the 3rd period, Malkin was singled handily trying to carry the team on his back to victory. Crosby was the issue last night. He wasn't very good.

I dont think Malkin looked strong though (literally). I think we will find out he has some sort of lower body injury... |

I literally just posted about that in the pens blog...
I said about three years ago that the best thing they could do would be to move him. Could you imagine if they traded him straight up for Weber. I just pooped a little. |

No doubt it helps playing behind the best defensive team in the NHL. |

And the poster is also innacurate is stating that it took a nano second to replace Thomas. Rask was drafted in 2005. It took a couple of more Junior level Seasons, two AHL Seasons. And a number of years as a backup to get Rask to this point. |

Kris Letang is the single, most overrated player in all of the NHL. |

Jagr was the best player in the OT periods last night, IMO. |

If anyone wants to question the value of Sean Couturier to this franchise, check out what Patrice Bergeron is doing both offensively and defensively vs. Pittsburgh.
That could be Couturier in a year or two. And even if the offense never generates to that level, the defensive value alone is immense. |

Wait, what?
He's one of the most dynamic offensive defensemen in the game. Sure, he's prone to being out of position, being a little too aggressive with pinches, etc. But he's a great talent. |

He's not a Norris Trophy guy and frankly, I like that he's on the Pens. I think he's not as great as his billing.
But hey, he's got great hair. |

He's not a Norris Trophy guy because the voters generally don't vote for offensive guys.
But he's only a notch below Karlsson in terms of offensive talent at the position.
And he's a lot stronger than he looks. He's a gym rat. |

He isnt a fantastic two way player.. but he is definitely an elite defensive talent (d-man). His offensive instincts are truly top level. He (like B-Rad said) may make some bonehead reads and pinches, but thats the risk you take with that type of d-man. |

The Norris Trophy heavily weighted to the offensive side of the game for defenseman. He is not a shutdown defender. He plays a high risk game, in which there is going to be some giveaways. But he is very strong in the offense and transistion game. Solid in defending against the rush. And is more physical then given credit for it. |
