I tend to believe the players execute the plan of the coach. I believe it's the responsibility of the coach to get the players to do the things he wants them to do. I totally agree he doesn't coach them to make those mind numbing decisions, but Letang never misses a shift.....EVER. If Letang gets disciplined during the regular season for his stupidity, maybe he isn't (frank)ing up in the post season. I simply don't believe any player is above reproach regardless of his talent level or contract value. If the player turns on the coach for wanting a more responsible approach, then that player needs to go.
As far as Disco goes... I hate his system. I hate the lack of defensive structure. You never know if the team is going to put in a good night in their own end. I also hate his personnel decisions. - madmike71
ok so let me get this straight...
When Letang flips a puck blindly through the slot, do you think that's part of the gameplan?
When Crosby turns the puck over at the offensive blueline when he's the last man back and Marchand goes in and scores on a breakaway 30 seconds into the game, do you think that's part of the gameplan?
If you answer no, would you have sat either or both of those players for not executing the gameplan? |

Yeah, he'll be 35 at the start of next season. But he is playing the best hockey of his career and was probably the most consistent Penguin forward during the entire playoffs.
However, I was against giving Sergei Gonchar a third year, and he stayed healthy and had a pretty good season, especially with more pressure on him with Karlsson's injury. - rival22

By that estimation so does MAF, and we see how much that means. No rational human being could have looked at this series going in and guessed a Pens team averaging 4+ G/gm would score 2 goals in 3 games while Rask stopped 108 of 110 shots. - Rawdog9755
Not what I'm saying at all, just that Rask has been a 2.00-2.10 GAA and 0.925-0.930% tender for the last four years or so in Boston, Halak was more of a 2.40-2.8 GAA and 0.910-0.915% goaltender until the year Montreal went on that run.
Cammaleri scored at a rate 25% higher than he did that reg season, where Marchand is about level - he was the Bruins leading scorer this year.
Both were unexpected, but Montreal's run was significantly more unexpected, to me. |

Talked to a respected hockey mind today that said the following to me about this series. Kind of got me really fired up.
Jesse Marshall @jmarshfof
"If Boston can win three straight, why can't the Penguins? Get to a game seven and let it fly."
I'm in the Daniel Alfredsson camp of "probably not", but that's all that we can hope for at this point... Win Game #4 and go from there... |

If we were down 2-1 after that effort last night I would feel pretty good. Stranger things have happened but I don't see us playing 4 straight games better than we played yesterday.
It would be nice to get a bounce though, christ almighty i'm going to be hearing clangs off the post for 6 months. |

I don't get the big deal about what Gregory Campbell did last night. Granted, if I broke my leg, I would probably cry like a school girl, but what else was he going to do?
If he just lays there, they aren't going to blow the whistle unless the puck hits him, and it's not like he made a play or cleared the puck or anything. He just sort of hobbled around. The only time he got close to the puck was when Letang almost gave it to him.... Yes, our Norris Trophy finalist almost gave the puck away to a guy with a broken leg.
Is Gregory Campbell tough? Yes, of course he is, but there are plenty of stories of guys scoring goals, or finishing games or whatever on broken bones or blown out knees. Campbell just hopped around like a pogo stick for 45 seconds. - rival22
I think the point more or less is championing hockey players as warriors as opposed to the actual individual player who did it. |

Between hit posts, pucks trickling through the crease, pucks bouncing at the most inopportune time, and general whiffs on shots this has been the most frustrating series I have watched in a long time. I honestly dont know which one hurts more; this one or Philly and that is saying a lot considering what happened last year. |

I know, but what put me over the edge was a tweet about a Globe & Mail column titled "Gregory Campbell’s courage now the stuff of Bruins playoff legend".
C'mon...
If the Bruins win the Cup, it will be one of those great DVD moments, if they don't win, no one will even remember it a few years from now. |

I don't think that is even needed.... You figure, if the Pens can put a couple of games together playing close to as well as they did in regulation, they have a shot at winning games. Add a bounce, a little luck or a bad goal allowed by Rask, and a couple wins aren't all that out of the question.
But that said, I don't see anyway that they push it to 7 or win in 7. |
