For now I'd keep Cooke there. That line needs a guy like him since Neal is poopty on the defensive game and so is Geno. Cooke/Malkin were our best players last night in my eyes.(off course somebody is gonna disagree, as it always happens ) - Orpik44
Malkin and Cooke were our best players. Throw in Martin he was very good. |

yea I think it depends what else we throw in. plus I think they don't do it because that would take two assets away and they only get 1 or 2 ones back.
but if we did have the #1 pick, who do we take? If we take McKinnon, we have another great center that could take over for malkin eventually. or take jones and continue to build the blueline. - SuperHenderson13
I don't get the "take over Malkin"..He probably will stay with us almost as long as Sid. At least I wish.
If we picked McKinnon, I have no doubt in my mind that he'd become Sid's winger. He's like a fast and skilled powerforward. Nice! |

True. There were so many guys that played well last night. Sutter, Bennett and Orpik had pretty good games too. |

Boston declines lol
I hope Bergy never plays for another team in his NHL career, when Chara hangs them up, Bergeron is the immediate Captain and if he sticks with Boston I seriously see #37 hanging from the rafters one day - MrBeanTown
Yep, he is a steal of a second round pick and another one of those 03 draft studs. |

Girardi for letang ... - Slimtj100
As a part of the package, yes Girardi/M.Staal (or McDonaugh) for Letang/Bortuzzo (or Engelland |

No one at this juncture should want Marc Staal. |

Another Staal? Where do you think he wants to play long term? I'll give you 1 guess. |

Well now looking back on it the penguins could have drafted Eric instead of fleury and also drafted Jordan we could have had them two with Marc in the way with malkin and Crosby
Edit: or they could have picked toews instead of Jordan and waited for Jordan to just want to play with Eric talk about offensive talent
Malkin-Crosby-Dupuis
Eric staal-Toews-Kunitz
Cooke-Jordan staal-?

You mean because all of the Staals are together or because of his injury? This reminds me of Brian Berard. What a great d-man he was. |

I think he means the eye that's a major injury and he said himself he probably won't ever be back to 100%. |

Letang for FLAs 1st rounder and maybe versteeg ... I'd shed tears of joy if that happened |

3 way trade. Rangers get Letang, hurricanes get Marc Staal, pens get Jeff skinner |

With all of the D prospects we have and dupuis and Kunitz not getting any younger, McKinnon would be ideal |

And Carolina would get f'n screwed on this one..the Rags would have to add there. Skinner would fit in with us |

Why would Florida consider that? No way Letang would resign in Florida. You could have a nice nucleus in Florida with Huberdeau, MacKinnon or Jones, Markstrom, Gulbransson, Shore and others.
I wonder if there is a deal between Colorado and Carolina to be had at the draft. Colorado sends the first overall pick to Carolina for Skinner and the 5th overall pick. Carolina drafts the thing it needs the most, Jones.

The Carolina blogger had a staal for skinner trade one day. Staals injury is such an unknown that its a moot point at the moment |

No chance with mcdonagh. 1 for 1. I'd have a tough time dealing either to be honest for letang. Nothing against letang, just both those guys are the blood sweat and tears of the team |
