I don't think anyone was disagreeing with that. But your downplaying the importance of guys like Paille or Seidenberg. Winning a cup is tough, everything has to fall into place. Every player has to play their role, especially in Boston where they roll 4 lines for most of the game - sbroads24
The original point I was contesting was the "I wish we had just about any player on that roster". My point is, if you bring just about any one of them over here, by themselves, with the exception Chara, Lucic, Krejci, and Bergeron, they underwhelm. |

I agree with your point to an extent, but BOS and LA has proved that you can win a cup by having an entire roster of solid players. I would be looking to add on lines 1-4. |

Yes.
Both teams in my opinion are "superstar-LESS".
They win with solid players across the board. |

it funny- before the B's won the cup- they would make deals and i would think- meh.
then all of a sudden- they had the perfect system and lineup to play it.
hate them, super envious...
chiarelli deserves a TON of credit for assembling that team. |

You're right, he will just sign with Buffalo in the summer of 2015. |

id consider chara and quick superstars.
i'd call doughty, richards, carter, and kreijci stars.
only difference between stars and superstars is the media attention they get really. |

Chara yes. He's a Norris winner. Quick is becoming one. But my main point is that while it would be awesome to get a Crosby, Stamkos, it's not 100% necessary |

Me too. They got a lot of young guys some NHL experience and they played really well. Hopefully that benefits them when they're ready to compete in 2-3 years. |

Cap Hell is a bit harsh. They won't buy out Hossa, why would they? Trade Bolland for anything, amnesty/buyout Montador, try to trade Olesz to a cap floor team, if not buy him out and all of a sudden they have 11 million in cap space. Could also probably move Frolik. The cap is fine in Chicago |

Its very well built team. And everyone note, they didnt have to suck total ass forver and Pittsburgh their way to getting good. Proof if you make wise choices you will become good. |

Not saying you need one, but who was the last Cup team without one?
11/12 - Quick
10/11 - Chara
09/10 - Toews, Hossa, Keith
08/09 - Crosby, Malkin
07/08 - Datsyuk, Zetterberg, Lidstrom
06/07 - Selanne, Pronger, Niedermayer
05/06 - Staal
03/04 - St. Louis
02/03 - Brodeur
01/02- WC All Star team
00/01 - other WC All Star Team
99/00 - Brodeur
98/99 - Hull, Modano
and so on. Not saying you definitely need one, but having that game changer goes a long way. |

Think about it. What do the Anaheim Ducks lack? It certainly isn't star power. They have 3 legit star players. They lack depth that is necessary in the playoffs |

Impact players and superstars are different things. You absolutely need a Norris type Defensemen to win in this league. You need impact players and center depth. You don't need to draft first overall and get a generational player is my point |

Yes, they need to round out that roster. Its what NYR did when they traded Gaborik to Columbus, and they got better. Same thing the Oilers needs to do. |

Wont buy out Hossa. Bolland for prolly a player who will still fill up their cap. buyout montador i can see but no one wants olesz. so youre looking around 5-6 mil and that is without resigning Leddy, Bickell, Frolik.
sorry sir you are a poorly thinking hawks fan |

Buyout Olesz too? I dont think its as bad as you guys think. There is plenty of young talent that is replaceable as well as decent peices to move.
That said, I wouldnt be opposed to trading Kane for someone like Lucic. Obivously wouldnt be straight up (i dont think Boston would move Lucic for anything really) but IF there was a nice package put together that would benefit both teams i wouldnt be heartbroken to see Kane go. And again, i dont see anything like that happening, just having fun |
