my issue with Carter was (and likely still would be if he was still a Flyer) that he's too inconsistent in his overall game. Yes, he's a streaky scorer, and that's ok. I can live with that. But what frustrated me so often was that he went for long stretches of time where he just didn't seem engaged in the game. He'd overskate a puck and just glide around in a circle instead of stopping/starting and trying to retrieve the puck. Or he'd glide around the net after a shot attempt instead of stopping in front and digging for a rebound. Drove me crazy.

Guy has world class talent for sure, and if he played every game the way he's played the last two games for the Kings he'd be a force. But he doesn't. Or at least he didn't when he was here. If you look solely at his numbers, it's hard to complain about him. But when I watched him play night in/night out, I frequently felt he could/should be doing more than he was. So frustrating to have a guy on your team with that kind of talent that you always feel could/should be doing more.

No denying that he's in beast mode now with the Kings. Just wish he had played that way more often for the Flyers. If he had, he'd likely still be here.

Carter was never appreciated for the player he was here. And apparently still isn't. Carter was the same player here, as he is now. Injuries in the playoffs limited him. Look at Kopitar? He's a shadow of his normal self. He undoubtedly has some kind of injury.

Not only does Nashville hold some blame but so do weber and his agents, and probably the nhlpa too.
