I really do think Burrows could get a 1st right now, nothing more but a 1st yes..... - chompsey
I don't.
He has a reputation around the league that I think hurts his value and desirability to other teams.
I also think there's probably a perception that his bread is entirely buttered by the Sedins.
Only people who watch him every game would know that that's simply not the case... |

I agree about the part about Luongo. I think most Canucks fans do.
But you seem to ignore the fact that the Canucks would not have made it to game 7 of the SCF if it weren't for Gillis's moves. It's as simple as that.
Many of the moves Gillis made were to make a strong push for the cup, which they did.
Unfortunately they were one win short.
Did it put the Canucks in a worse position for the future? Yes. But sometimes that's the price you have to pay if you think the team is a contender. It's called "win now."
Has he made more bad moves than good since then? Yes.
But his moves were still instrumental in the cup run, which is why he won GM of the year. - Fosco
list the moves Gillis made that were necessary for the cup run. I would still contend almost all of them were throwing money at UFA's. He's shown very very little ability to make even a decent trade.

I added in my edit.
Ehrhoff, Hamhuis, Higgins, and Lapierre.
Absolutely no way the Canucks make the run without them. No way.
And the contracts he signed the Sedins, Kesler, and Burrows to made him able to add those players.
I also added the similar depth moves that Burke/Nonis made to try to put the team over the top; Smolinski, Rucinsky, and Carney, among a few others.
Which list looks more like scrubs?
EDIT: Ehrhoff, Higgins, and Lapierre were all trades that removed nothing from the roster.
You can also add guys like Chouinard, Isbister, and Weinrich to the list for Burke/Nonis. |

If Daniel fought back against Marchand then Marchand got under his skin. If he doesn't fight back he has no heart. It's a ridiculous no win situation for him. If Datsyuk did the same thing he'd be praised for not letting Marchand get the better of him.
The Canucks didn't lose in 2011 because they weren't big enough or tough enough. They lost because they ran out of healthy bodies. Kesler, Hamhuis, Malhotra, Samuelsson, Raymond, Edler, Ehrhoff, Salo, Rome, all hurt. Hard to compete against a team as good as the Bruins with that many injured players. - KB3Point0

I find that is exactly the case. Its about looking for any flaw and then you make a retort and then they thank you for proving the point. Without really making a valid opinion on a discussion. Though I do agree at times with others opinions. The 3rd line issue from yesterday is still eating at me I guess. |

I don't think any team will offer a 1st or even a prospect good enough to make it worth trading Burrows. - Fosco
You could definitely get at least a mid to late 1st for Burrows, but that's not enough value to make it worth while trading him. |

Maybe, but I doubt it. They'd get more at the TDL than they would at any other time of year.
Still have a hard time seeing any team give up a 1st. Maybe if he was still at 2m/season.
Agreed that a late 1st wouldn't be enough to make it worth while.
