Why do the Canucks care about how the league values him? He plays for the Canucks, and, is a valuable contributor to the team. He'll not be moved!
Booth is a non contributor...so far.
Ballard is a non contributor...coaching.
Luongo is a non contributor...management.
Edler is a non contributor sometimes...inconsistent. - LeftCoaster
Inconsistent because of coaching. Even so he is our most tradable asset. |

Friedman says the Canucks were not Eakins first choice, as he wanted a youngish team and the Nucks are a veteran team. I say good luck to him. Sounding more and more like Gillis likes John Stevens. |

And of course the obligatory chocolate inhalation, no? (time to bring out the plastic couch covers) - Zogg
I used a blanket, and it was a very good idea...
I'd also like to recommend Lindt Intense Blackcurrant for any of you out there with a sweet tooth. |

I hope not.
Would have preferred Eakins, although he's not my first choice either. |

I would compare Burrows value to something similar to a younger Hartnell. I think he would actually have a fair bit of value around the league. I think Edler has more value, but Burrows isn't going to be viewed as scraps. Raymond on the other hand would be viewed as garbage.
***edit*** to clarify, I am NOT saying Burrows would bring the physical intimidation Hartnell does, more that he can get into the dirty areas and chip in as well. - Isles_since_6
Hartnell is younger than Burrows
Raymond is UFA and will get a reasonable contract somewhere, likely not a contending team though (maybe CAL) |

Friedman has no clue. Only this upcoming season does Eakins have a choice. Its only Canadian publicity as the reason why. Oh and his wife is hot. I also heard Eakins was scheduled for another interview on monday. You can't tell me that there is more interest in Edmonton. Really unless there is a buttload of money. |

I'm sure he'd prefer to coach anywhere in the NHL oppose to the AHL, but with enough interest he should have his choice! |

Gillis showed interest and others follow suit that should tell people that he isn't a total ignoramus when it comes to hockey. Your right he should have his choice but a GM making a hasty decision could hurt their team. On one hand I wish Gillis would hurry up and pick a coach on the other I want him to make the right decision and making a forced decision is never the right one. Media and other teams moves will test Gillis's resolve. Lets not get stuck with Arneil or worse. |

IF the Canucks did trade Edler to the Flyers, I wouldn't be surprised to see Meszaros return in the package. R shooting, offensive upside, only 1 year left on contract. Philly also has a tonne of defencemen. They'll have to get rid of a few. |

Why the hell would we trade D for D? Thats just retarded considering Meszaros is only a mil less even though its only one season. For someone who likes to tell people they need to do there homework you aren't. We need a forward. I realize you said package but we need to make cap space. What you wrote down just now did it look stupid to you before you hit submit. |

There's some big assumptions you just made. When I said package, I meant it. Meszaros is a complimentary piece, far from the main return. I doubt it would just be Edler for Schenn or Couturier straight up. More likely Edler & pick or prospect for Couturier & Meszaros. Or you could go crazy and see what would happen if you threw Luongo into the mix.
The Canucks also need a right shooting D man, and if they trade Edler and get rid of Ballard (which seems to be the consensus, they will need 1 more top 6 D. And if 2 of their top 6 are Tanev and Corrado then they'll likely be looking for a veteran. A right shooting veteran with offensive upside who is strong defensively. Someone like Meszaros... |
